April 24, 201015 yr Thanks Dave, he was certainly a surprise as he came with an aviary I bought and I thought he would see his days out in that aviary. Also sorry to all about the picture size,I obviously loaded it without re sizing. On photobucket what measurement is is best to select ? Have a good weekend! Go The Anzacs! Cheers Patrick I have an older bird that I am going to try today with a hen, so i too hope for those results. On Photobucket, the size to select is 640 x 480.
April 24, 201015 yr Author This is an updated picture of my nest of seven chicks just to show you their progress. All appear to be doing well and eating heaps! Hope the size of this picture is correct!

April 24, 201015 yr One looks cinnamon wing? I can see three definite cinnamonwings in that photo Ratzy, and maybe more .......look again. Edited April 24, 201015 yr by KAZ
April 24, 201015 yr Author One looks cinnamon wing? I can see three definite cinnamonwings in that photo Ratzy, and maybe more .......look again. I think you're right Kaz, would that be carried by the Lacewing? Hopefully by next week I can get a better picture of all of them. I have exactly the same pairing two boxes down with quite different looking chicks so it will be interesting to compare them once they are out of the nest box. Edited April 24, 201015 yr by jetrick57
April 25, 201015 yr Author On second thoughts the Cinnamon must have come from the Father a Normal Grey Cock bird as his Mother was Cimnnamon and unfortunaely she is now deceased. I had forgotton this until I found an old picture of her. I seem to remember Kaz mentioning once before these chicks will be normal hens and split Lacewing cocks. There is also Opaline in the background of the Granfather.
April 25, 201015 yr Author Hi Guys This is one of my first bubs(not quite four weeks old) from my Lacewing/Normal Grey nest. Hasn't left the nest yet, but I thought I would try and grab a picture before they start flying around. http://i744.photobucket.com/albums/xx85/je...57/P1020850.jpg Edited April 25, 201015 yr by KAZ changed to link due to not being edited to size before posting.
April 25, 201015 yr Author Sorry, I thought it had resized properly! Edited April 25, 201015 yr by KAZ

April 26, 201015 yr Very cute! Is it just me or do the nostrils look funny? The nostrils dont look funny.
April 26, 201015 yr Author Hi Ratzy Just had a look in the nest box and they look like they should to me!
April 26, 201015 yr Nope, sorry! Just my eyes. Anytime you see a dark black beak you may well see some of that darkness on the cere as well. Thats what you were seeing but it isnt a problem with the cere at all and it will fade away over a couple of weeks. Its all about melanin.
April 26, 201015 yr Author You'd have to be real proud of those chicks mate They are beauties Thanks Kaz I am stoked to see them sitting on a perch like that. I know I am only a novice, but it is been a rewarding start. These two are possibly 1-2 weeks from leaving the nest, so I am hoping nothing goes wrong. Hey I think I resized it right! Cheers Patrick
April 27, 201015 yr Author This is an update on my two remaining Lutino chicks from my initial nest of six. Their Mum is rearing them on her own and so far so good. She seemed to be plucking them, but appears to have stopped now that feathers are appearing
April 27, 201015 yr Real cute :emoticon112: Some mothers only pluck the down. My best hen Omelette does....down only.
April 27, 201015 yr Author Real cute :emoticon112: Some mothers only pluck the down. My best hen Omelette does....down only. I've heard that, glad she stopped there! In a nest a couple of doors down I have I have a couple of Albinos that look a match for these two.Funny thing is one chick is very advanced with only a few days the difference. I think it gets up front at meal time!
April 27, 201015 yr I managed to get a picture of this one while Mum was busy eating. THAT IS SOOOOOOOOOO CUTE, GOOD JOB JETRICK!!!! how old would this one be?????
