March 15, 201015 yr I have used a small bird cage before, and for my bigger birds, I've used a cat carrier (not used for cats obviously). Both work well for me.
March 15, 201015 yr Small cage is fine ( tie off the doors ) or there are boxes for birds...wooden ones with carry handle and mesh front. I wouldnt use the cardboard box Edited March 15, 201015 yr by KAZ
March 15, 201015 yr I think they are a bit different but small cages can be used similarly, a travel cage would be more secure, my small cage as Kaz said the doors need to be tied off, the perches taken out of, the seed bowls removed and those doors tied off and the tray removed and then I put a small towel on the bottom where they can stand and newspaper over if if you prefer.
March 16, 201015 yr okay anyone got a reccommended size for a "small cage" i recommend that i will fix that up if you need if you do purchus from me that is if not and you decide other wize which is fine i suggest you take a shoe box with ventalation holes so he or she feels secure Edited March 16, 201015 yr by GenericBlue
March 16, 201015 yr okay anyone got a reccommended size for a "small cage" I received some birds from interstate recently and the travel cage used was w260xd260xh150. The cage was hand built from timber and masonite with a wire front and door made from mesh. Five birds traveled comfortably in this on the plane. Hope that helps!
March 16, 201015 yr For anyone wanting an easy little project for a budgies carrybox........... 1. buy a nestbox from the bird dealer. 2. Cover the nestbox hole with wire mesh...cit out a larger hole if you want but its not necessary.....remove the perch which should be wedged not glued in. If glued cut it flush with the nestbox face. 3. attach a carry handle to the top of the box. Remove the insert concave wooden section ( should be removable ) 4. The slide up and down nestbox lid becomes the part you put the bird in through, and you can drill a real small hole through the slide up and down lid into the thicker wood of the nestbox and screw in a metal "eye"..... these metal eyes are easy to screw in and undo by hand thereby securing the slider lid. an easy to make small carry box. Total cost should be under $10. Edited March 16, 201015 yr by KAZ
March 16, 201015 yr Strangely enough I just had a neighbour knock at my door to offer me cage that belonged to his Grandfather in Ireland. Realising I had birds he thought it may be of some use to me. The cage was infact a travel cage. It's about 300x250x200 and has a sliding entrance at both ends. One end has a rubber wall at the entrance hole to prevent the birds escaping as your place them in or catch them up. It should come in handy. Funny how my budgies were the conversation starter after years of living near by.
