Posted February 18, 201015 yr I can't sleep because of my night mares. Last night at 10 pm Buffy our little Jack Russel started barking crazy like, we were in bed and Greg yelled out to tell her to stop it, but she only barks when something is there. Greg got up and went out to chance off a big dog as that what he thought she was barking at BUT he came running back in yelling it's a monster never seen one that big, I thought oh yeah must be a huge dog out there. Greg's yelling turn all the lights on quick and he pulled his jeans on and put his bludstones on ran back out, I follow in my jarmmies and he said yelled it's the biggest tiger snake i have ever seen, well I was up on top the out door table in seconds, much too scared to get down. :star: The snake was in the yard when Greg seen it and by the time we went back out Buffy had chased it back out and it went under my car. But it was too late it must of bit her in the yard because with in minutes sshe was nose down in the dirt, we rang the vet and rushed her to Numurkah which is about a 20 minute drive which took for ever and the vet gave her anti vemon. We stayed for an hour and we left she looked really good sat up a bit and blinked her eyes but she died at 1pm. the anti vemon cost $400.00 but Greg said it was worth it because we love her so much and she is part of the family and the best dog ever and she was. I have been crying all day Greg went over and got her today and tghen we had to bury :star: She was a great little watch dog and kept all cats out and never bothered about the birds even the pigeons she new she wasn't to touch them. we are going to miss so much. I can't sleep because I am scared there are more because it is nearly breeding season so I keep thinking it's mate is around somewhere. And everytime I close my eyes see it all over again.
February 18, 201015 yr You know this makes me very very sad for you :star: What a wonderful dog and she was protecting her family. Its a great pity the snake won in this case. Jack Russels are famous for going after snakes. My blind aunty had a Jack Russel as her assistant dog. Same thing happened to it....the dog was keeping the snake from getting to my aunty who was also in a wheelchair at the time. I am really sorry mate
February 18, 201015 yr Oh, Splat! I am so sorry for you. It's hard to lose a special dog, and especially when it is so sudden. I'm sorry for you nightmares too. I hope they go away. :sadsorry:
February 18, 201015 yr Just to add...I would have freaked out about a snake like that too.........no wonder you are having nightmares. I hope the snake is gone.
February 18, 201015 yr splat i have no comforting words as i know how hard it is when you lose a dear friend like yours but i can say a blessing for her and also u time never heals a lose like that and i only hope you guys get the snake before someone or something else gets hurt your in my thoughts my friend blessed be :sadsorry: your little darling Edited February 19, 201015 yr by KAZ
February 18, 201015 yr Ohhh Splat I am so SO sorry for your loss. What a brave protective little dog! My thoughts are with you. :sadsorry: Buffy
February 18, 201015 yr I am sorry to hear for your loss I hope you get the snake but just remember that a dead snake can still kill even after a bush fire . Ross
February 19, 201015 yr Author Thank you every one but i feel for Greg more than me as Buffy was his dog for 11 years, he loved her like a child and i have loved her and fed her five years. But poor Greg he is not saying much at the moment as he blames himself. AS for that rotten tiger snake he didn't make it either as buffy made sure of that but she paid the price heavily. But what's freiking me out is that it is nearly breeding season for snakes around here and I am scared it has a partner hanging around. I am scared for our birds and I am really to scared to go out to my breeding room because one could be hinding there. I guess it takes time to get over fears like this. But Greg said it was probably after mice as I did catch one the other day. I went and bought snake net and heaps of mice bait yesterday. BUT all we want to do is rewind the clock so we can save Buffy but then Greg could of being bit too which would of being horriable. and to think it was under my car :sadsorry: I shiver thinking about it. Kaz they are brave little dogs.
February 19, 201015 yr Oh noooooo! So sorry to hear about your loss. Buffy will be waiting for Greg and yourself at Rainbow Bridge (click here) Edited February 19, 201015 yr by nubbly5
February 19, 201015 yr I am so sorry for your loss Splat. We love our pets as family and we feel their loss just as acutely. You are in my prayers.
February 19, 201015 yr Author Thankyou, one of the grandkids dropped their chocolate and Greg and I both said quick Buffy will get it and then relised no she won't she's not here any more even though chololate is bad for dogs, buffy loved it and icecream in cones, she would run around and lick everyones left overs. I would buy her dog chocolate seems she was a chocaholic  to keep her happy.
February 19, 201015 yr I love my dogs more than life itself and I worry about them like they are my kids. I can only imagine the sadness you are feeling at the loss of such a wonderful friend, companion, protector and family member. I honestly believe that when we die, we go to a better place - all races, all cultures, and all species. You will see Buffy again one day. Know that you and Greg are in my thoughts and prayers.
February 19, 201015 yr I am so very sorry  This is very sad news indeed. My deepest sympathy's.
February 20, 201015 yr Author Thank you Dave and Liv, Greg would of paid anything to save her as he said she was worth it, I actually thinks he loves or loved her more than me, hope in a different way but he had a good cry that means something coming from him. The vet gave us a card with a whole page of writing, what a lovely thought , when my dog died Twenty years ago he was a ruby king charles cavalier, I took him to the same vet to have a grass seed taken out of his ear and the stupid vet over dosed him when they put him out and he had a heart attacked. I grieved for months. well any way we never got a card for him and he was in a heavy black garbage bag on the floor in a little room in the middle of summer. it was horriable. When Greg picked Buffy up the had her in a light degradable plastic bag in fridge type thing and then they put her in a special calico bag for burial. They were so good. BUT 20 years ago they sucked. And then they had the cheek to send me the bill, never did pay and they never to chase it up as Cosmo was a show dog with 30 points to go for Champion which back then was really good for a ruby, and we had people who wanted to buy him for $2000. but of course never would even consider it as he was a member of our family and spoilt rotten and he had 4 stud jobs lined up at $350. each and they killed him. I always reckon that was part of my exhusband my undoing as we seperated by the end of that year. All very sad. I wish they were more considerate back then. The vet that did it went on holidays straight away and never came back guess he was sacked as I guess they were worried we would sue them and we wanted to but we never had much money so was to scared too. Well that's my story on my beloved Cosmo. He was only 3 and 1/2 years young too. All memories came back over this and especially because it was the same clinic. Edited February 20, 201015 yr by splat
February 20, 201015 yr Oh Splat, I just saw this I am crying for you, my gosh what a horrible experience, my thoughts are with you, rest in piece Buff what a brave little girl you are. HUGS. Sidenote: this is a common thing I assume where you live (we don't have this by where we live) can you call wildlife to trap it? Edited February 20, 201015 yr by Elly
February 21, 201015 yr Author Thank you Elly, we are not aloud to kill snakes here but this one didn't make it as we were in danger. Plus these snakes are deadly, porr little girl didn't have a chance as this snake coould kill a fully grown man in know time at all. 10 oclock at night I dont think anyone would come and i really wouldnt know who to call as know one does it here.

Really sorry to hear about this splat. First your good hen and now your dog you must be due for a change of luck soon. We almost lost our old dog in Oct last year (tic) but she just pulled thru although I don't think she's the same now. The family was pretty upset through it so I can only just begin to imagine how you must be feeling.
February 21, 201015 yr Author Thanks Daryl I have heard those ticks are deadly too, I am glad she made, if Buff had of pulled through she would of been crook for weeks or even months the vet said as those snakes do so much damage to their insides. She would of needed on going treated but Greg would of paid it all to still have her here.
February 22, 201015 yr I know of a guy that was working in a roof and lifted a pink batt only to find a 3m python under it so after getting out of the roof quick smart he rang wildlife rescue and they said you catch it and we will come to pick it up . So he said it will be in 100 pieces but he left the house and didn't go back until it had been removed.

Can you image us who are **** scared of deadly snakes trying to catch this tiger snake as they are know to attack, they are aggressive not like a brown or black snake that will try aand get out of your way and really only attack when threaten but a tiger will attack with out any promting. If Greg or were bitten or one of the grandkids it would be horriable because it is 47 ks to Shepparton Hospital. As it was it was 27ks to Numurkah vet. Any way Buffy did a good job with the snake untill she dropped it only took minutes before the vemon took hold, it was just horriable.
