September 6, 201014 yr Author Omelette passed away today. She had tried to continue laying eggs albeit in a sporadic timeframe after being in a resting cage for 5-6 days. With no warning signs, she laid an internal egg and then haemorrhaged and bled out. She died in my hands with no time to get to the vet R.I.P Omelette. Best budgie I ever had
September 6, 201014 yr Sad news, sorry to hear that. At least her progeny will live on for many years.
September 6, 201014 yr Author I am going to plant her in a very large plantpot and put a fruit tree or something similar in the pot. If anyone has any ideas on what kind of plant or fruit tree .....happy to take suggestions. Thankyou for the well wishes and thoughts. She was very special and will be missed greatly.
September 6, 201014 yr Very sorry to hear this Kaz, I have enjoyed reading the stories about Omelette and all her offspring, I am sure this has been a terrible shock for you. As for the planting, I planted a peppermint tree (Myrtle - you can now get a small variety) in a big pot, after reading one of your posts, and although it isn't very large yet, I plan on trimming it for my birds, as they love it. Perhaps Omelette would like something like that. Thinking of you - Robyn
September 6, 201014 yr I am so very sorry, Kaz. That is a terrible blow. Rest in peace, beautiful girl.
September 6, 201014 yr Kaz, I am very sorry. I was only thinking about how one of my hens looked like Omelette, thus leading to how she was going. I am so sorry kaz. I suggest planting an apple tree. Apple trees symbolize magic, youth, beauty and happiness. The apple has long been associated with the symbolism of immortality
September 6, 201014 yr Legacy - that is what it is about. We are all going to leave this mortal sphere one day, but what will we leave behind? How will others think of us when we are gone? Gone but never forgotten, R.I.P. Ommie
September 6, 201014 yr o no so sorry about the one and only Omelette she was a top bird and hen you love her Edited September 6, 201014 yr by shannon bird breeder
September 6, 201014 yr Oh, no, such sad news Good bye, Omelette. It is good she has so many offspring for you to remember her by.
September 6, 201014 yr Ohhh Kaz, I am so so sorry to read this. She was a lovely hen, I was fortunate enough to have seen her and I know how very special she was to you. :sadsorry: What a sad and unfortunate thing to happen. I know she can't be replaced but she will live on in your memories and all her offspring. What was her favorite tree/bush she ate? It could be a peppermint tree or gum? Maybe a lemon? You could plant some of her favorite seed at the base too - being in a pot would mean it won't grow wildly everywhere unless it self seeded but by that time you'd have been able to harvest for your budgies RIP Omelette. You will be greatly missed by Kaz, your beloved friend :rip:

September 7, 201014 yr Kaz, I am very sorry. I was only thinking about how one of my hens looked like Omelette, thus leading to how she was going. I am so sorry kaz. I suggest planting an apple tree. Apple trees symbolize magic, youth, beauty and happiness. The apple has long been associated with the symbolism of immortality this is the belief of Avalon Apple trees symbolize magic, youth, beauty and happiness. The apple has long been associated with the symbolism of immortality what i named my aviary after ...read below s-c its also in my web sight explaining why i named my stud Avalon house Avalon is from a Celtic word meaning 'apple.' The apple-tree is a Celtic Tree of Life, the upholder of the Worlds above and below, the source of all spiritual sustenance. In Irish tales, it grows upon an Otherworld island and bears the fruit of immortality which emits a heavenly fragrance, able to satisfy all hunger, heal all ills, and yet always remains whole. Avalon is the Inner Temple of the Celtic and British Mysteries, a landscape of the soul, a country of the heart. It is the land which the poet and mystic see in vision, where the artist and musician find inspiration; where the soul goes for healing and spiritual refreshment: a timeless land of power and mystery that offers initiation and enlightenment to all those that embark upon the inner voyage. Avalon does not exist in the dimensions of time and space. It lies within the Otherworld, a place that the Celts have always taught us exists now and always, nowhere and everywhere, in the ‘thin’ places of the landscape, within the cracks of everyday life. As an archetype, or blueprint, of cosmic order and harmony, it distills the qualities of power, beauty and wisdom, sorely needed in our world today. kaz im so so sorry to hear this i just seen this thread she was a beautie why dont you plant a egg plant in the pot to represent her fertility and abundant eggs as when you think egg you think of omelet well i do anyhow , either that or a roes tree minni varierty as their beautiful as was she
