December 1, 200915 yr Author Lovely birds! How many birds do you have exactly? I will let you know once I complete my inventory after my cull is done.WOW Really nice birds Kaz but what's a written Auction?Breeders all put up a bird or two or three on the show bench with a starting price on a piece of paper. Those interested add their bid on the paper and it keeps going till time up. When its time up the person whose bid is the highest on the paper gets the bird. For instance....this fellow the breeder put $50 starting bid on. I put $55 and noone else bid on him so I got him for $55 Edited December 1, 200915 yr by KAZ

December 1, 200915 yr I am going to mention this written Auction at our next meeting. It sounds fun, how much time do you allow before it's all finalized?
December 1, 200915 yr Author I am going to mention this written Auction at our next meeting. It sounds fun, how much time do you allow before it's all finalized? It is done over a couple of hours I think...we did it prior to and during lunch and after.... then random numbers are called ( relating to the lot numbers of say four or so lots at a time )...when these numbers are called there is like a couple of minutes for these lots to close off. It give people a chance to add a last minute bid. Then when its called TIME, no more bids are accepted and the last bidder on the list gets the bird.
December 1, 200915 yr Great birds. I can't wait to go to an auction they sound like fun, especially if I can get a bird like that Pied Cock for $55
December 1, 200915 yr So kaz is the list on the cage or is someone sitting down taking or writing the bids down
December 1, 200915 yr Author So kaz is the list on the cage or is someone sitting down taking or writing the bids down on the cage so you walk around and when you see what you like you just write your bidder number and the amount on it and move on.

December 4, 200915 yr Kaz You paid $5 more then you needed, you just need to match the $50 with your $50 the next bidder has to go $55. I agree with you about the lucky dip auction,by numbers.
December 5, 200915 yr That dom pied hen is better than any dom pieds I have, so i figure you are not needing any of my pieds. They can gcontinue to gow up in the peace and sernity of my aviary, knowing they are safe and well.
