Posted August 23, 200915 yr Hi I have 3 weed species and 2 plants I need identified. I'm hoping their are some members on here that may know some or all of the species I post. Weed 1 - Is a climbing groundcover. Has purple star shaped flowers. Very thin stems. Weed 2 - Has diamond shaped leaves. Succulent-like stems. Buds are cirle with 4 points, directly inline with eachother . Weed 3 has hairy stems and leaves. Thats about it for this one. Plant 1 is a shrub about 2 meters high, has variegated green and yellow foliage. Orange berries. Maybe a variagated sheenas gold or ytt, possible. Thanks all.
August 23, 200915 yr Author The plants are a duranta and an indian hawthorne. Just need the weeds identified now. Any horticulturists here? Does anyone know of any common weeds in the brassicaceae family?
August 23, 200915 yr Either AV or MB are, but I can't remember which of them Pierce. MB is... but she doesn't come on her much anymore...
August 23, 200915 yr Hi Pearce, I'm Budgiesaurus's mum. I think I can have a go at the weeds. Weed 1 - looks like a Wahlenbergia, which here in SA is a native. It could be something else though - I'm not 100% sure. Weed 2 - I'm certain it's Chenopodium album (Fat Hen). Not sure about Weed 3 - maybe Stachys arvensis (Stagger weed), or else horehound (Marrubium vulgare)? Except that both these weeds are supposed to have "opposite" leaves, while yours looks to have "alternate" leaves. You could take a sample to your local council office - they should have horti/environmental staff who would know. Best of luck!
August 24, 200915 yr Author Thankyou very much number 2 is definitly fat hen, confirmed today by one of the groundskeepers. Weed 1 resembles Wahlenbergia, so its very possible. Thankyou very much.
