Posted August 20, 200915 yr Hi guys, I was just wondering how I would go about building an outdoor shed which I can store all the breeding cages, nursery cages etc. I have been looking around the aviary section of the forum and I saw some excellent setups. I cant find it now but one of the members had a shed which had all the cages inside and then sort of a cage which hung outside the shed but you still had access to it via a door from inside the shed. Do these things come built or do you simply buy a shed and you need to do it yourself?. Also, some people have their cages in the shed plus a small section which they keep budgies inside, what is the purpose of that?. What I would really like to do in the future is buy a shed, build a flight cage which hangs outside the shed but you have access to it from inside (I will try and find the photo of it from the aviary forum section). I would keep all the breeding and nursery cages inside the shed and have a small section which has some budgies in it. This is pretty much copied from another member who had a similar setup built and I thought it was really good, I think it was Liv but cant remember. I just had a few questions: 1) What is the purpose of a small section with budgies in it when their is also another cage which hangs outside the shed? 2) Is this an alternative to keeping birds in aviaries which can be moved around or can you also keep those sort of aviaries inside the shed?
August 20, 200915 yr I know what you mean. That was Daz's old breeding room. Its pretty easy to make a suspended flight, and its great for letting the birds get natural sun light and rain. I dont believe they come pre made, but any handy person should be able to knock one up. We had planned to do one, but have since changed the layout of our shed and the flight now goes along the fence line.
August 20, 200915 yr Author Hi, Thankyou for the information, I recently saw your new setup and I took some images from your thread (hope you dont mind) to ask a few questions. Your photos didnt show any flight cage or main aviary so I was wondering where you keep all your birds. Also you have your breeding cages next to the other section which appears to have other budgies in it. After the budgies breed where do the chicks go and where do the parents go ? and the other small section which you have shown in the photo, what is that used for ?. here are the photos I took from you thread just to let you know what I'm talking about.

I dont mind at all. I keep the main flock in external flights. I have 3 aviaries. One with the main flock, one with some cockatiels in it, and one with birds that are being kept away from the normal flock for different reasons. I also have a separate shed used for the quarantine of new birds. The birds in the large flight in the breeding room is for resting parents when they have finished their breeding season and for the fledged chicks that are gaining flight and social strength before they join the main flock outside. :emoticon112:
August 20, 200915 yr Author :emoticon112: thankyou, now it makes sense. I would love to see some photos of your other aviaries, your setup sounds awesome. After the parents are rested to the fledged chicks go in the same aviary as the parents and the main flock? Also, are your other avaries like sheds aswell or are they those types of avaries that you can buy from petshops and different pet warehouses. Edited August 20, 200915 yr by luvbir1
