Breeding Budgies Process

Hi guys,

I have been reading up on budgie breeding information and have come accross a process which budgies which goes through breeding budgies. It starts of by pairing two budgies together and either putting them in a seperate cage or breeding cabinet (some do colony breeding aswell). Could someone tell me the rest of the process, such as what happens after the budgies hatch and so on until they are ready to live without the parents, where are they moved to then? are they moved into the main aviary with all the other budgies or do the budgies who hatch and are ready to be by them selves go in a different aviary?. I'm not breeding my budgies but just was something which peaked my interest, and wanted to increase my knowledge. If someone could provide a step to step process on budgie breeding I would greatly appreciate it. I know everyone has different ways they go about breeding them so I am interested in how everyone does their budgie breeding. :)

Do a search of the forum... especially the breeding section. We have HEAPS of information there, and also check out our FAQ's.

No need to appoligise :) Most of the time the information is out there... it's just a matter of finding it. I'm glad you have found some helpful topics!

just a quick question after reading that post, this is the part which confuses me.

After the budgies are 42 days old they are moved to the nursery cage:

1) do they stay in that cage for 3 months until they moult?

2) Where do the parents go when the chicks are moved to the nursery cage, are they put back in the aviary or

somewhere else?

After the chicks moult they are ready to go in the flight cage

1) Is the flight cage same as the main aviary?

2) Do the chicks go in the same cage as all the other grown up budgies? or are they in a new flight cage with budgies only their age?

Sorry for so many questions but these questions have been popping up in my mind for the past week and wanted to clear them out!. :)
