Posted August 8, 200915 yr hello everybody i have 2 male budgies whose ceres have turned a brown colour while in a breeding cage with females i have since taken both out and have in cages but i am woried they are sick what should i do i know they are out of condition but is it something serious PLEASE HELP.
August 8, 200915 yr usually when cocks get older their cere turns brown... not necessarily sick but some say it's a sign of "old age" and being past breeding stage... I've had a cock that whilst down with 3 chicks turned brown, then back to blue but he was a fine breeder Unless your cocks were really out of condition hens (as their ceres turn white/blue) photo's would help us to help you more
August 8, 200915 yr It can be a sign of testicular cancer too. You did the right thing in removing them from breeding, as they are way out of condition.
