Posted June 17, 200916 yr Brisbane BRASEA auction - July 19th Details are now online http://www.budgerigarrare.com/
June 18, 200916 yr A massive auction! Some nice looking rares for sale thought, its good to see some cresteds being advertised.
June 19, 200916 yr Thanks Heath, some excellent specimens. im after some spanlges, DF spangles, opalines and grey greens. here is the place to buy. And because there is no reserve, what does that mean the price starts at?
June 19, 200916 yr I'd imagine that bidding would start at around $30, normally it rises pretty quickly in auctions such as this to around the $100 mark where the lesser birds sell. Depending on who wants them sometimes it goes crazy as I'm sure your aware In my experience with the auctions, regardless of the reserve or not people are normally willing to pay $50 for a bird. What do others think? Thats pretty much the going rate for the cheapest birds at auctions I have been to?
July 17, 200915 yr I'm thinking of going as I have never been to a budgie auction before (cattle and Horse only), should be interesting
July 18, 200915 yr I'm thinking of going as I have never been to a budgie auction before (cattle and Horse only), should be interesting The only downside of this auction is that it will be a LOOOOOONG day. Bidding starts at 9 but probably won't conclude before 4PM with a break for lunch. No need to stay for the duration though.

July 20, 200915 yr I did go and found it to be very interesting. birds look great but didn't buy as we are moving in September. Maybe at the pine River auction?? PS was very tempted so I only stayed for two hours.
July 20, 200915 yr I managed to pick up two: A Cinnamon Light Green hen from Alan Kent and a Grey Green cock from L&F Percy. I took these pictures when they arrived home with me. Pretty happy with them, but of course now that the Pine Rivers catalog is out there's just got to be something in there that I NEED to buy ........it was a long day. I finished at 6:00pm I got there just before 7:00am......Got two very nice Spangles Horrobins, and Hollingsworth.. Tried for the Spangle Opaline Sky but got blow out at $700 ... it went for $1550 I took one look at the Spangle Opaline Sky and thought 2 things: 1. Wow 2. There's no way he's gunna be in my price range :rip: Magnificent bird and one you could definitely use as a foundation cock. Edited July 20, 200915 yr by Daryl
July 21, 200915 yr Nice birds judt love the cock wow he has good directional feather the hen too Thanks everyone. I don't mind his feather also, although he could do with a touch more feather length. Funnily enough the main reason I bought him was to add size as he's a long, solid bird. However his feather direction is also fairly good. The hen is a nice style and well bred with reasonable feather too but not overly big. Both birds have bred successfully before so hopefully they can continue that trend at my place!
