I just got a new budgie today & need help with the mutation. She is solid white with no markings. Eyes have a hazel iris ring and the pupil is a root beer color but not red or pink. Also Does it look like a female or male? I tried to get a good picture of the eyes but my camera is a piece of junk grr.

 

With the description you gave I would say a Double Factor Spangle and looks to be male to me.

Look at the beak colour. That will give the clue.

Daz, the bird doesn't look recessive pied and the iris rings are visible as noted above.

 

Wouldn't be ino as the eyes would be red.

DEC maybe he hasn't read the book yet I have Double factor Spangle with out iris rings.

I would say that with so many mutations mixing it is hard to specify anymore without knowing the parents or breeding the bird out.

 

The best way we will know is if the cere turns blue or stays pink because it looks male yes?

i agree, looks like a DF spangle cock. My DF spangles all look the same as bubs and meet your desription

do you mean breed that bird? Yes I did, he came from two spagles with iris rings.

 

The interesting thing about this bird...

 

 

is that the beak is orange and the feet is pink. So would have to say that it is recessive. Being recessive it can only be a Dark eyed clear, recessive pied, Greywing, clearwing, dilute, fallow ...

 

My guess is that it's a darkeyed clear with iris rings.

 

DF Spangles would have a grey beak and feet and a blue cere.

A double factor spangle that is masking recessive pied will usually have no iris rings, an orange beak and the males usually have a pink cere. They can easily be mistaken for a dark eyed clear until they are bred and produce spangle chicks

I was thinking along the lines you were Neville, he is a young bird so we will see if the cere changes or not.
