Posted May 27, 200915 yr I've been having him since September 16, 2007 and i'm just wondering if he is a normal green or not?
May 27, 200915 yr yes hes normal green and that spot on the back of the head could indicate split to pied.
May 28, 200915 yr Don't split to Rec. Pied have a smaller spot and no pied markings on the front? Could he be a Clearflight Pied with very little pied markings?
May 28, 200915 yr Don't split to Rec. Pied have a smaller spot and no pied markings on the front? Could he be a Clearflight Pied with very little pied markings? I, like Jen, am inclined to think the patch is too large for split to recessive also. I see base colour on the chest and variation on a wing flight too. Pity the flights are cut or we could see more. Tail feathers also have clear areas. Would like more photos please. Edited May 28, 200915 yr by KAZ
May 28, 200915 yr I also agree that his spot is too large to be split recessive. i would say poorly marked dominant pied
May 28, 200915 yr maybe dom pied - there is some yellow on hsi chest, but you do not know if that is bought out by the camera. Breeding him would help determine the truth
May 28, 200915 yr He is certainly not a normal green. It is a pity that he doesn't have more flight feathers so we could see what they were like. Birds that are split for recessive pied can have pied spots as large as his but they would not have other clear areas. Judging by the clear areas on his tail and chest I think he is a clearflight pied that is not very well marked. Dominant pieds are usually less variable than clearflight pieds

I am now letting them grow back out. I'll try to get some good pics of his chest tomorrow but my camera isn't the best. Here are some new pics if they help any more.
May 29, 200915 yr Agreeing with Neville, here...it is okay to clip them many vets do say that for safety but as they grow in you will be able to tell the color of the flights.
May 29, 200915 yr I'm with neville and kaz and Jen, that tail is not the normal colouring for a normal green.
May 30, 200915 yr He is carrying Pied markings and I would love a photo of his chest. As the only flights his has are not clear, he would not be a clearflighted .....but could he could be a banded pied?
June 9, 200915 yr Author oops I forgot all about this thread. I'll take a picture this evening for sure.
