August 5, 200915 yr Author So if you are a grey spangle, you get fostered out? Wow, racial neglect in the budgie world  Wonderful as always Kaz!!! Those two grey spangle babies lucked out big time. They went into the nest with the dilutes and greywings where the parents in that nest were excellent big feeders.............feeding 7 babies full to the brim. I think it helped them a lot
August 6, 200915 yr They look to be good birds that have benefited from both great genes and a great set of rearing parents. Well done natural and foster parents I say.
August 6, 200915 yr Author Omelette has laid her second egg and it looks like its a double yolker I cant remove her from the breeding cage yet to stop this third round of eggs, as the youngest chick is a little too young for dad to take over the feeding. Omelette isnt good at letting him in the nestbox. In another week I can remove her and let the dad continue and I will foster any eggs that are there. She started egglaying this time.........a little too early
August 7, 200915 yr and Omelette's grandchild. That grandchild looks to be getting white fuzz might be opaline , What are the parent's mutations of the grandchild's parents? ...is their opaline in any of them?
August 7, 200915 yr Omelette's second youngest baby in the kindie cage and youngest and a couple of her others in the kindie cage............. i really like the youngest green bird better than the second youngest i think its mask is beautiful
August 8, 200915 yr Author and Omelette's grandchild. That grandchild looks to be getting white fuzz might be opaline , What are the parent's mutations of the grandchild's parents? ...is their opaline in any of them? Omelette ( grand mother ) is opaline and it seems the dad of these chicks is also split opaline. ***************** Omelette has now laid three eggs in the box amongst her chicks. She can lay them as long as it takes for her to be removed and the Dad to take over, but she wont be raising any. Here are her chicks today This one is real cute Edited August 8, 200915 yr by KAZ
August 11, 200915 yr Author I took two chicks out of the nestbox earlier. These two........... these two are still in the nestbox with the mother and four eggs and VIDEO Edited August 11, 200915 yr by KAZ

August 12, 200915 yr Easy to say in hindsight Kaz but Omelette is probably worth to you 10 times what you paid for her. She's really set up your stud, now and for the future.
August 12, 200915 yr Author Easy to say in hindsight Kaz but Omelette is probably worth to you 10 times what you paid for her. She's really set up your stud, now and for the future. You are so right, and the plus is she has given me a lot of her chicks in the form of future breeding hens.
August 12, 200915 yr that is rite kaz your have now got the blood line in your stud you are set have you breed the new birds form the same blood line i will see if i can get the link
August 13, 200915 yr Author I pulled the last two babies out of the nestbox into the breeder cabinet, turned my back for a few moments and back again to see dad attacking them. Luckily they only have a little bleeding at the top of cere in the feathered area.....not much. I have created a mini kindie cage for these ones and all siblings ( unused breeding cabinet ) and added a coule of the newly fledged greywing babies as well. Two nestbox icecream tubs in there. They refused a spoon feed so I will try again later. the older chicks should either feed them or show them how. I will try again with the spoon feed at tea time.
