May 1, 200916 yr I assume the bleeding has stopped so that wont be an issue, but infection may well be. Have you ever had her to an avian vet to determine the cause. Mites can affect the feet.
May 1, 200916 yr Budgies wouldn't self inflict injury like on purpose, I would take her to an avian vet to get checked out.

Birds and especially parrots can and do self-harm. Other animals inluding humans do it also. Strange as it may see the animal actually get pleasure from this activity. It usually starts of innocently but as time goes by it become a deep physicological issue. Humans are easily treated as we can discuss the issues surrounding the problem. Animals are much harder to treat. I personally have seen parrots who have self-mutilated with deep holes in there breast tissue. It is not a very nice thing to see at all.
May 2, 200916 yr Last year one of my nest has 5 healthy young birds at 7 weeks I put them in the kindy cage and they were all doing fine and every time I went out to see them I would let them out and they would sit on my hand, all my babies get to do this they look forward to it and any way one particular little fella wanted to get out all the time. Every time he seen me coming he would run up and down the cage and I would let him out but in the end he would get so excited he started biting his feet and toes he adventerley bit his legs offat teh feet. The vet said it was an anxious problem he had. He was put down, His other siblings were fine.

Harder to treat, but treatable?
