November 21, 200915 yr Author Chicks together Violet opaline cinnamon wing She looks a bit pale for a Violet. Did you take those photos with a flash? I did use the flash, but it is necessary, sorry. I think she would be a sky violet, but the cinnamon has washed her colouring out. I originally thought she was going to be grey, but we can see from the cheek patches, and the mottled colouring of her chest feathers, that she is in fact going to be blue. You can see the bright sky blue coloured feathers and also some washed out looking purpley coloured feathers. Until her first moult, it is still all specualtion, but she is definitely not grey. YOU REALLY ARE DOING A FANTASTIC JOB DAVE sorry caps were one m i especially like your spangle chicks the little cinn grey in the albino nest looks on my screen sky blue very pale but then my com is extinct along with the monitor lolall looking good at wattle flights Thanks GB.I am not sure I am doing that much. The birds do all the work, I am just along for the ride.I agree, I thought she was going to be grey, but it seems I am wrong. Like I said in my reply to Renee, I am still trying to best guess her colour. The cinnamon washed out the colour. It is not your monitor, you are in agreement with me. Don't put yourself down, you are right. All is looking good here at Wattle Flights. You are right there too. Edited November 21, 200915 yr by Dave_McMinn

You are right there too. dave she is definitely a sky violet i got a sky violet cinn cock / lacewing i always thought it was mauve how ever its breeding rezults of its identical brother said other wize so i took it along to a well astablished violet breeder and asked him here what colour do you think this bird is he asked me i said i think sky violet although he does look mauve he said it was defenently sky violet so the cinnamon afects the violet giving it a grey efect being a modifier that does make sence so hope that helps some :bump:
November 21, 200915 yr Author Yes, sky violet cinnamon opaline hen was my guess. Always strange to put a normal grey cock to an albino hen and to end up with a sky violet cinnamon opaline and a sky blue opaline normal. Genetics is a funny thing.

November 29, 200915 yr Author give her a year, then you send him my way, with some rings, and we will see what we can do - lol maybe i should come with him for a holiday not sure I am up to entertaining at the moment :hap: like you could deal with me not is anyone?!?!?!?!?! besides i am not sure i would fit in the carry box  you could take yourself on as hand luggage. Not sure if it is cheaper for frieght if you travel in the same cage as the bird. Hmmmmmm. Anyway, I have taken some new Here they are: The offspring of Bruticus - grey normal/cinnamon/opaline bred by Cec Gearing, and my Albino hen, who must also be split opaline, carry violet, and but have no dark factors The offsrping of the the first clutch of the Dark Green Cock/opaline and his GreyGreen hen The parents of the above looking after their new eggs. Of the 5, only 2 eggs are fertile, I think. The SF and DF spangles are the offsrping of a DF spangle hen and Dumber (RIP) The grey opaline and the cinnamon wing grey are from the second clutch of Earl (grey opaline/cinnamon) and Latte (grey opaline) Finally the sole offspring from the 2nd clutch of Kiwi and Twitch

I like the one above best, I think she'll turn out pretty nice. Thanks Darryl, I like her too. I think she looks good now, so I am hoping that she will continue to grow into a good looking chick. Not a clear mantle so she will not win show awards, but as part of a breeding line she is very good. You have beaten me to the count! Thanks Renee. I am pleased with how they have turned out. I now have 3 DF spangles, 3 hens and 1 cock, all white, with 3 the offsrping of Dumb and Dumber(RIP), who I bought from Hans in january. I paticularly like the green chicks, I think they are filling out into very nice birds. Edited December 10, 200915 yr by Dave_McMinn

December 10, 200915 yr Author Well, the current breeding is slowing down dramatically. Only one pair are going through the motions now, and of their 5 eggs, only 1 was fertile. The Dark Green Cock and his GreyGreen Hen have a lovely little one they are raising. ring is on and all is good. I am going to give the breeding room a good clean out on the weekend, then some new pairs will be considered and put down.
December 12, 200915 yr Author One guy that I want to put down to breed is this guy here. I finally think I have the right hen for him. In this picture, the other blue boy at the front there, he is another I am deciding on a hen for.
December 12, 200915 yr Of the two - This one has a better face. It will be interesting to see pics of the hens and see if the balance out the faults in the cocks.
December 19, 200915 yr Author A few photos of the current crop Kindy cage New Eggs for Bruticus and his Albino Hen Youngster from Drak Green Cock and GreyGreen Hen.
