One of our budgies Georgy who is about 3-3/12 months old I have noticed this morning that round his eyes (not actually in his eye - the eyelid surround area) seems to be a lot darker than it usually is - he is happy enough and eating but just wondered if this is something to be concerned about Ive not heard of it before.

I am assuming by my no replies that either nobody has heard of this or I am worrying about nothing - would appreciate if someone could put my mind at ease though.

Sorry boomery I but I've never heard of it before, if hes still happy I don't think theres anything wrong with him but I'm not sure. Are you going to phone a vet about it?

Sorry Boomery,I don't know anything about this. I would imagine it's quite difficult to see any difference as budgies eyes are so black anyway.

Its not actually the eye its the surrounding area and isnt sore maybe its part of his first moult and he isnt acting strangely - I think I will keep an eye on him for a couple of days see if anything changes - I think Im getting paranoid after Suki died last week!

Do you think you could post some pictures of your budgie, it might help tell what is wrong with it.

Yeah I will tomorrow Im at work so cant right now but I'll do some tonight if I can see if anyone can help then.

hmmm, has he got a white face boomery? i just noticed that casper has been rubbing his face on his perches recently and you can see some of the skin around his eye. i think if the feathers are white the skin looks worse than it really is. i have also found little bits of fluff on the cage bars where he has been rubbing. he is moulting quite heavily at the moment so i think thats to blame. im sure if this is the case with your budgie it is nothing to worry about but maybe phone for some advice anyway - just for your own peace of mind :(

Thanks Pixie, you will see a picture of him on the pics forum but he seems to be fine now eyes are back to normal I guess maybe he was rubbing them too much.

Good to hear it was nothing serious and that he is fine now :)

:)

Well goes to show you should not let your budgie sit up to all hours watching TV

Or maybe your budgie needs spectacles

After you add the spectacles just re-name the bird Harry Potter!

Well all the best and by for now

:(Laughing out loud):
