Going on holidays

*sigh* I'm going to Tasmania for 2 weeks on Thursday and have to leave my budgies in the care of my friend. :) I don't mind about the outside birds but i am really stressed about leaving my little Blinkie! She isn't going to be able to spend anywhere near as much time playing with him as i do and she has little brotherswhich i don't really trust. :) Anyone got any tips on dealing with the stress this is causing me??? :D

Bea, isnt their anyone else who could take Blinkie for you, and let your friend have the other budgies to care for? You really dont sound convinced this is the best holiday home for blinkie, Id think hard over where else he could go. Even if its somewhere where they still wont have a lot of playtime with him, but do not have any small children running around might be better. Truthfully, I dont think you will 'de-stress' leaving Blinkie with this friend (even though he will probably be fine) Id check out my other friends, family, and neighbours to be honest.

Good look,

Anne.

Bea have you got any elderly relatives or neighbours who would take care of blinkie for you. I leave rocky with my elderly neifghbour if i go away and i know he is reliable and in most of the day too.

I know the feeling of having to leave your pets with someone else, but you can always try and keep in touch while your away :) hope you have a great time on your holiday :D

yes Bea - don't let it spoil your hoiliday. I'm sure blinkie and your other feathered friends will be fine for two weeks.

i'm going away for a weekend at the end of may n my nan has said she will look after then now she doesn't have a cat, me and the two terrors went over hers at the weekend for a cup of tea, so they would get used to my nans home, they already know her and she spoils them rotton.

This is my best friend. I trust her it's just i wish i knew someone who could put in the time that i think Blinkie needs. My other friends have birds and i don't want Blinkie exposed to them in case they're sick or something. :( This holiday is at a real bad time. Blinkie is beginning to say kissy... :D It's cute. My friend can keep up the talking lessons but will Blinkie respond to her or will the change in person just confuse him. I feel bad about being stressed because i have always trusted her with my birds and she has never let me down. It's just Blinkie is special! :) I'll tell her to have him out at every possible and safe moment!!!! :P She's coming over after school tomorrow so i can tell her what to do. And someone said to keep in touch, don't worry, i couldn't go a day without checking how Blinks is!!!! :D And about having an older person take care of Blinkie, all the older people i know well enough to trust them with my birdy are smokers and there is no way in the world i am putting Blinkie in a smokers house! :) *sigh* I wish i could bring Blinkie and Mickey with me! ^_^ I always worry about Mickey on holidays and i can see it's not going to be any better with Blinkie! :)

they will be fine bea! just leave your friend a list of everything she needs to know and im sure she will take good care of him! if blinkie is quite an outgoing character i dont think the change of person will phase him very much :) maybe it would be a good idea to have your friend over, handling blinkie a couple of days before you go so that he is familiar with her already :D she sounds like a really good friend to you and im sure she wont let you down!

enjoy your holiday bea!

Blinkie has hung out with my friend a fair bit before. She was even going to take on of Blinkie's brothers. Wouldn't that have been fun for Blinkie to go stay with his bro for the holidays! :D:)

yes that would have been lovely for both of them! hehe :)

Only thing is, i would be paranoid about her bird being sick! :D

Thanks everyone for helping. ^_^ I'm feeling a little better but i'll get stressed on Wednesday when Blinkie goes to my friends place..... :) Oh well, i'll be on a ship to Tassie and as i get really sea sick i'm sure that'll keep my mind of Blinkie! :)

:(Laughing out loud): (Laughing out loud) :(Laughing out loud): hope you have a great time Bea, and I'm sure Blinkie will be O.K :) you could even talk to him on the phone if you want to keep his speaking up :D

:D I took Blinkie to my friends house and i really don't think he's going to get played with as much as he should. :( Her mum didn't even realise i wanted him to be let out of the cage! If he doesn't get let out and played with too much over the next couple of weeks is he going to become less tame, cause that would be really distressing for me! I couldn't stand not having him getting all excited to see me!!! :( Holidays suck!

Bea if anything I would say you and Blinkie will bond more because it will make him realise how much of a good life he has with you compared to your friend, and when you walk through that door and Blinkie sees you I bet he will jump for joy :(

And while you go on holiday you might as well have a good time than a misurable time.

Try not to worry o.k :D

I am trying.......but Blinkie might take one look at me and think i abandoned him and then not trust me incase i do it again!!! :D

*thinks to self - stop worrying! Everything will be okay......as long as the boat don't sink!!!*

I decided against watching Titanic tonight. Think i might have nightmares!!!

Don't you guys worry. I'll no doubt have fun once i am safely on the dry shores of Tasmania! :(
