March 28, 200916 yr Author Thank you - don't worry, there will be lots of closeups of my birds over time, I'm sure. Feathers are great to photograph (although my sister would have a fit - she has a feather phobia). And don't mind me, I'm a fretting new birdmum, rather be safe than sorry, etc etc. I'm not worried about the flakes, but the grooves looked odd, so I thought I would check just in case. Maurie was very indignant about the whole thing
March 29, 200916 yr The beak is a slightly unusual shape, but nothing to really worry about. Beaks are like fingernails and hooves, sometimes you will get odd dents and stress lines come through and it doesn't mean anything. Sometimes bends and grooves can occur through stress or if the budgie damages the germinal cell layer in any way. Those grooves look like they are from wear. So it is probably a behavioural thing or he is wearing his beak down strangely. The flakes are completely normal. Edited March 29, 200916 yr by Sailorwolf
