All Yellow Parakeet With Black Eyes?

Featured Replies

Dec hen x lutino cock

They are both white/blue based birds.

lutino is sex linked so you would get =

All hens would be lutino and all cocks would be split lutino.

DEC is recessive so you would not get any visual dec's, 50% of chicks would be split dec though.

All in all I beleive you would get =

Lutino hens/dec, normal cocks/dec/lutino. All babies would be masking dec.

:) Darkeyed clears are recessive.. and very special.

Pairing a DEC Hen to a Lutino Cock will give

Normal Cocks/ino/recessive pied

Lutino Hens/recessive pied

No bird can be split to a DEC.

Here is the pairings >Dark-Eyed Clears<

But wait ... there's more. A DEC paired to a Normal will also give Clearfights/recessive pied and Normals/recessive pieds. Pairing tha Clearflight back to the DEC will give you the DECs

Hi Peacre, i was agreeing with you and adding that they were very special. :)

They are the only variety that can produce dominant and recessive chicks depending what they are paired to.

okay thanks very much Daz. I will look over the link you posted and I will see if I can learn them.

Once again thanks so much everyone. I'm really learning a lot of great info here.

I'm not thinking about mating her now but I want to when she gets older. I was reading up on recessive pied parakeets and if I can remember right it said something about them having hidden genes. How would the babies come out if I got a male recessive pied parakeet?
