Posted March 14, 200916 yr I have had a few pet budgies and other breeds in my life, but have just purchased a pair of grey breeding budgies. I know nothing about breeding budgies, so will be turning to you guys for help, I'm sure! I already have lots of questions and have only had them home for a few days. I live just out of Yass - anyone in my area?
March 14, 200916 yr Hi and welcome. The more you learn before you start breeding, the better and more enjoyable your experience will be!
March 14, 200916 yr Welcome, you can start with our FAQ section on Breeding Budgies. The most important part of breeding is what will you do with the babies? Where will they go? Do you keep them or do you find GOOD homes for them. There are many budgies breeders...and too many birds. Budgies will breed when you give them the right condition but it doesn't mean they should...it is not a 1,2,3 snap and you have babies. A lot of people have beginners luck but you must know what the risks are and what could happen and be as prepared as possible (I know no one can be fully prepared). Explore why do you want to breed budgies? For your pleasure and you keep the babies or find good homes? breed for good healthy chicks? Working toward showing your budgies? All these things combined and more should really be considered before you set out to breed. Again there is a lot of good information in the FAQ that is where I would start reading.
March 16, 200916 yr Welcome And I agree with Elly in everything she said. Its better to be prepared and learn lots before even thinking about breeding budgies. They are breathing living things and we just want the best for them right? Good Luck! Everyone here is great and there's so many experienced breeders on here that will be able to help you with everything
