March 9, 200916 yr Charlie is so vain haha That's too cute... amazing what a mirror can do for a solo bird. By the way you do know your "Charlie" is a girl, right?
March 9, 200916 yr Gorgeous photo Mirrors unfortunately can mess with a budgies brain as they truly believe there is another bird there. Charlie will bond to the reflection in her mirror rather than to you, so if you want her tame, best take it out.
March 9, 200916 yr I agree with Liv. I would take the mirror out. By the way you do know your "Charlie" is a girl, right? We just told him in another topic
March 10, 200916 yr Charlie is very sweet! I agree with the mirror comments... My Smokey has his mirror attached to his play gym instead of in his cage, that way he gets a limited period of time each day to play with it... to be honest, he's not really that interested in it! I personally think he has more unhealthy relationships with a couple of his other toys than with his mirror! :hap: :hap:
March 10, 200916 yr Author By the way you do know your "Charlie" is a girl, right? Yeah i do thanks, only just found out but haha thanks. Charlie is a unisex name isnt it? because i dont really want to name her comething else. Thanks Oh okay, thanks for that aswell, i just thought she might get lonely with out "bird company". But i guess that she likes to have my company aswell. Charlie is very sweet! Haha, and good luck with smokeys obsessions. I agree with Liv. I would take the mirror out. Mirror is now out, she seems to be paying attention to the other things in her cage more already. Thanks Edited March 10, 200916 yr by Shaun
March 11, 200916 yr Good on you for taking on everyone's advice so open-mindedly (some people don't necesarily find this an easy thing to do). :fear As you have already begun to notice, our feathered friends do tend to find company in all manner of things in their cages! I find that keeping a supply of extra toys and rotating them every couple of weeks keeps Smokey occupied and engaged - a new arrangment of the furniture and a removing a couple of toys and replacing them with different ones that he hasn't played with for a few weeks provides hours of entertainment and exploration! Smokey's regulars are his swing and ball on a string, but he has maybe half a dozen other toys which come and go (two or three at a time) when I do a major clean out of his cage each fortnight.
