Is It Possible For The Primary Feathers To Grow In Short?

Featured Replies

Posted

My brother's budgie (Kiko) cannot fly. We did not clip his wings but the primaries are shorter than they normally are. It looks as though he still has all of them except for one or two (there is one feather on the ground) is it possible for the primaries to grow in short after a moult or is this somthing else? If you could let me know that would be great

Thanks

French moult is something that still has people saying different causes for it happening. In essence it is a failure to grow and keep flight feathers and often the tail too.....can be hereditary, a virus, or nutritional. People tend to differ on their thoughts on how it occurs. We should have something in our FAQ section on it.
