Photo's taken with the natural light setting on my camera. I took the first one less then half an hour ago! We just started to get burnt leaves falling on our front yard.

 

I was standing at the front door when I took this one.

Hope it doesnt get to your place, its scarey I know. I was in Canberra when the fires wiped out my mother's suburb and the fire came as close as her front door but luckily neighbours were able to keep it at bay (she was in aged persons units). We had to go and pick her up, and fled from the unit in my car. We couldnt see a thing as it was so dark, even though it was 3pm in the afternoon. Totally black and we just drove "blind" to get out of there. So I sympathise and fingers crossed that your place and yourselves will be okay!! Keep us informed if you can!!

Oh boy! bush fires scare me!!

I hope no one gets hurt and they are under control soon

 

This photo was taken on my mobile (sorry for the quality) at about 12pm from my backyard in Warragul.

 

I got a call from GB who was stuck in Warragul and unable to get back to her family (including young daughter) as their town was evacuated at 10.30 this morning. At this moment the town is still under high alert with ash and amber attack. Her family has decided to stay in the home as you can't see or breathe outside. All precautions has been put inplace to save their home. Power is out. Birds and animals unfortunatly have been left to the grace of God. So GB is asking you all to please think of her during this time, and for anyone who is religious, please pray and put it out there that family and daughter (and birds of course) survive this ordeal.

Bird lack of oxygen is a major concern at this time. (You can't see two feet in front of yourself)

 

We both went through our own ordeal here at Warragul at my place, as we watched about dozen plus fire engines go down the road near were I live. The fire started from embers about a km away, while the wind was blowing down wind towards us. So sorry for no photos of this time, as GB was trying to calm me down, and filling bath, sinks, washing machine..... with water. The sky was pretty much like your photos above *sunshine*.

 

We are now out of danger, for now, but sending our thoughts out to those in same position. And keeping positive about GB's little girl for the night.

Kazzy, I had no idea you lived so close to me. You have to let me come and see your birdhouse one day! If for no other reason then to show my parnter what he has to make me.. Everyone in Warragul is defianately in my prays!

 

I don't think the fire is going to come any closer. It's been raining for an hour or so now.. and I haven't heard anything on the radio about it heading this way..

 

Ans Kaz, air con. is always off from 4pm when there is a cool change and there wasn't any obvious danger at that time so all was good.

i am praying everyone will be alright. you must be terrifies. keep the possitive spirits coming. please keep us updated as much as possible. i know your familys and birds are in my prayers and im sure they are in many other peoples as well.

These fires are herrific, Bendigo was hit hard. I now live in the Goulburn Valley and thank god we have no fires here but I can't see my back fence from the smoke and it's hard to breath. I think it is coming from Bendigo not sure.

Hope you all out there near those fires are safe and unhurt and didn't loose your homes.

my fam in middle of at this very moment little girl birds i pray live if fire does go over house they have no chances as pines all along back of my new aviry and will explode

so and fire comming both ways fast all i can do is know what is is

am very scared for them all towns lost homes this morning very close to them

they have set fire plan in action and are praying themselfs

kazzys been so suportive and i really owe her heaps for putting me up as i know no one in my area at all bar her and her sister

and would be in the evacuation shelter if she had not offered her home

We are in the clear this morning. A few people lost there houses on the other side of town from what i've heard though.. I hope everything works out fine over your way GB

We usually get a pink sun at sunset when Aussie has bush fires. I'll look out for it.

thats cool kaz hav missed you though

havent said much just your odd freack out lol all is good thats what matters first thing i do when i get back is hug little girl give her something for being brave and staying carm and collected then straight to birds where kazzy and i will be looking for destress and breathing problems changing all perches and nest boxes and making sure i clean aviry down incase of contaminated smoke from what ever

wash floor and spray with a lite spray of tea tree and vinager then new feed and let them rest

close eye will be kept one all birds and chicks for three weeks dayly every few hours

think i will sent little girl straight back to school when buses start again to keep normality

what you think and what do others think any advice for my birds and or on any think opinions most welcome
