The person on there that said the cere would be blue by now if it was a boy is wrong, as this type of budgies cewre never turns blue if its a boy.

Looks like a male to me.

The mistake a lot of the kids on yahoo answers make when trying to sex a budgie is that they stick by the BLUE FOR BOYS PINK FOR GIRLS theory. That only works for certian kinds of budgies and budgies of a certain age. Your budgie looks like a lightly marked recessive pied in which case its cere will never turn blue if its a boy. In young budgies a boys cere is pinky purple like yours is. If it was a young girl budgie its cere would be mostly white. Once around 5 to 8 months the cere ( if a girl ) would go brownish and if a normal male budgie would turn blue. In recessive pieds and some other mutations the males cere woulod stay the colour it is now as an older budgie.

Yep it is definitely a boy and a recessive pied at that. You can tell it is a pied because it has the black eyes and it has markings on it, where as lutinos are void of any other colour.

If your parents don't want you to have a third budgie, why are you breeding them? As soon as that happens there probably won't be three-- more like you'll have 6 or 7 budgies all of a sudden. If you are going to breed budgies, you would be better off getting two more females and having two breeding pairs. That way, you can breed them at the same time and foster them if one pair doesn't raise their babies right, and then you will have slightly more genetic diversity so that you can breed the offspring with each other and they won't be related (although you'll need more new budgies or else the third generation will have to be inbred anyway).

You can also swap the parents around as well. But you run out after a bit.
