Posted March 31, 200520 yr Hi, I was just wondering if anyone elses budgies like playing with those little latice balls with bells in them (i mean not when they're on strings or hung up, when you just put one on the floor)? Blinkie is mad about them. He gets on the floor and rolls around with it. He's my first budgie that has ever taken an interest in them so i was just wondering if anyone else budgie plays with them....
March 31, 200520 yr I gave mine some of those tonight, as a matter of fact! It's funny you should ask about them. I put them on the top of their cages tonight, and for about 3 minutes they all just eyed them in that way they have... LOL...then Arctic started beaking one, so that caused Mystery, Blueberry, And Sky to all want to check them out too. Mystery picked one up and threw it off the cage, which of course made a loud noise when it hit the floor. All the birds just cocked their heads and looked down at the ground. It was the funniest thing! That was all the interest it held for Mystery, but Blueberry threw all the rest off, too, and waited for me to put them back up. She must've thrown them off for me to retrieve 5 times before she got bored...I had 4 of those balls, so twenty times...that's a pretty good attention span for one bird, I think! Sky threw them off once or twice, then they all lost interest. All in all, I think it was not bad for the first time!
March 31, 200520 yr Piper loves them! I don't know if my other budgies will ever touch them. And my parrotlet just looks at them like they're from another planet.
March 31, 200520 yr My guys love them when they are on top of the cage. I have 8. I put them all up on top of the cage, and if Zoe or kiwi is the mood, they push them all off. Then I put them back up again and on and on untill they get bored. I bought more so I would not have to get up as often (Laughing out loud). However, if they are on the floor theres not a chance that they will touch them! weird hey!

March 31, 200520 yr Candy played with his when he was younger but prefers the ones that are hung up he sometimes sleeps on the top of them clinged to the cage.
March 31, 200520 yr Author Yeah, my other birds prefer the hanging ones too. Blinkie is the only bird i've ever had that actually just likes rolling them around!

March 31, 200520 yr Mine love them hung up but never go anywhere near the floor of the cage -never! Even if I put a spray of millet down there they will never eat it. Julie
March 31, 200520 yr Candy likes playing with his mirror ball on the floor and his ladders - Patty has NEVER been on the floor - Georgy does when patty flings him on the floor - and new edition Bobby only has by accident when he has fallen off his perch!
March 31, 200520 yr My sisters Budgie has a little wooden cotton reel in his cage he likes. he balances on the top and walks along like those people in the circus on the barrels. its cool! of course it makes a nice noise when he throws it arround. Edited March 31, 200520 yr by cooper

He's my first budgie that has ever taken an interest in them so i was just wondering if anyone else budgie plays with them.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quite some time ago, I bought Bertie a pack of kitten toys from a cheap shop(which had the ball with bells in it and heaps of other cute rattly, rolly things). He loved all of them! He did different things with all of them.. Pushed them along, threw them, jumped on them! They're great value..

April 1, 200520 yr Oh dear sparky you do sound disillusioned right now. It might be a good idea to list what's wrong again for us here as I'm not sure now what the problem is. Also how old is he and what age was he when you got him? Sorry ,I'm sure you've told us all this before but my great age needs a bit of refreshing sometimes! Julie
