Doing Something For Myself!

While I was at work today I finally decided to bite the bullet and enrolled myself at TAFE to study vet nursing! I'm quite nervous about it all as I dont cope well with change. It starts on the 11th Feb and goes for 2 years. (only one day a week). So I will continue to work as well, just a few minor changes to my shifts at work! Wish me luck!!

Good on ya girl! You'll love it.

I just did my first day of work experience in a clinic today and it was great!

That's great Saiworwolf! I dont know why I waited till I was nearly 48 to do this!!

That's brilliant news Luv  I'm so pleased for you. Life is too short to do things you don't like... or NOT do things you've always wanted to do. I'm the same as you... hate change and don't deal with it well... but take it one day at a time, and you'll be fine. I'm sure once you get into it you won't be able to wait until your next class. YAH for you :bliss:

How wonderful, any change to move your life into a direction you long for is an awesome step in the right direction, I am very proud of you :bliss:, keep us updated.

Thankyou all so much for your encouragement! Its something that I've wanted to do for so long!! Now that my children are getting older I feel a bit free to do the things I want to do!

Hey congrats, this is something that I have been tossing up doing but can't seem to make myself take the final step. Congrats of doing this

Well I had my first day at TAFE today - it was awesome! Lots and lots of information handed out ! My folders full already!

It should be loads of fun!!

YAH!!! I'm so excited for you. You're going to love all this new knowledge. How are the puppies? Any new photos?

Wow how exciting. It will be even more exciting for you when you get to start attending clinics. I worked as a 'untrained' vet nurse for a while and I can still vividly remember the first surgery I assisted in (it was a ceasarean for a bulldog), you'll have a great time and some amazing experiences. The only thing I'll say is get ready for lots of POO!!

well done. A great step forward. No matter how much we are proud of you, you should be even more proud of yourself. An Amazing achievement to start a course at your age. the more years we are out of school, the tougher it is to further educate ourselves - institution wise. Well done.

Well I had my first day at the vet surgery today - and what a day! Firstly i witnessed 3 purebred kelpies being put down, (could not find a home for them anywhere :D ), then we had a 3 year old dog with the same disease children get that age very quickly and it was in a lot of pain so it was put to sleep which was very sad. The poor elderly man who owned it was just devastated. Then I watch a young female dog get spayed. I was very proud of myself - I didnt even faint! I had to lots of cleaning etc which didnt really worry me. I learnt so much in just one day! Cant wait for next Friday!

WOW! what an emotional day!!

You must be really strong :) I cant stomach stuff like that and i would have balled my eyes out when the dogs were put to sleep.

Thanks for the update ^_^
