Posted January 24, 200916 yr okay i have two of the most beautiful budgies i have ever seen i get compliments on them all the time my dilema is i don't really know what color they are  i think (could be wrong here) and i have been told tht the male is a skyblue yellowface type 2opaline spangle, and that the female is yellow face type 2 mauve spangle now they have had babies the clutch they had produced a white baby (totally white) a yellow and white (almost a pastel color) baby and three mauve/purple bodied with white wings and black stripes...those would be considered clear wings am i correct? so anyways here are pics of the two adults. in this picture the female is facing away from the camera http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l206/leannspy/HPIM4030.jpg and in the bottom picture male is to the left http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l206/leannspy/HPIM4031.jpg female http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l206/leannspy/HPIM4024.jpg and my male http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l206/leannspy/HPIM4016.jpg Edited January 24, 200916 yr by maesie Changed all photos to links. January 24, 200916 yr Awww, spangles and yellowface are two of my favourite mutations, so lots of      Do you have any pics of the babies? Sounds like that pale one could be a creamino. Edited January 24, 200916 yr by krosp
January 24, 200916 yr Both birds at Yelloface blues. The male is an opaline Sky Blue Yellow face dominant pied spangle the female is a mauve yellow face spangle As for their young, the totally white baby is a double factor spangle. It would also be a DF yellow face, so whilst it looks white, it really has two yellow genes that cancel each other out, the pastel coloured baby woudl again be a double factor spangle, but this one would have a suffusion of yellow through the yellow face, or it may actually be a creamino, as in a yellow faced albino. Does it have red eyes? If Dad was split to ino, then the young one could be a creamino and it would be a hen. The others are not clearwings, but rather poorly marked spangles.

January 24, 200916 yr Your cock bird is an Type 2 yellow face sky blue opaline spangle clearflight pied (probably also has a violet factor) and your hen is a type 2 yellow face mauve spangle. They must both be split for dilute. The white and the cream chicks are double factor spangles. One of the chicks is a single factor spangle, one is a dilute clearflight spangle, one is an opaline clearflight pied and the other is a clearflight pied. This pair would be expected to produce about 25% double factor spangles, 50% single factor spangles and 25% non spangles. Half of the chicks will also inherit the clearflight. The female chicks will also be opaline and the yellow face will be inherited by about 50% as single factor and 25% as double factor Edited January 24, 200916 yr by Neville

January 25, 200916 yr What you are calling clearwings are just spangles. Both birds at Yelloface blues. They won't be DF yellowfaces because DF YF2 have yellow faces. So they are white faces. Also if they were type 1 yellowfaces, there is a 25% chance of normal whitefaces occurring anyway.
