Posted January 21, 200916 yr Hi everyone, I have some more pics of my "inherited" birds. Would love to know from you experts who is what! "Harry" "Sally" "Trixie" "Girl" Thanks guys! Debbie
January 21, 200916 yr Where you wanting the mutations of these budgies? Here's what I think they are.. Okay. Harry is a Sky Blue (Could be Cobalt/Violet) Opaline Spangle, Sally a yellowface Cobalt Recessive Pied..and from here looks like a boy but I don't really know about Rec. Pieds. Trixie a Sky Blue Opaline Clearflight Pied, (or Dominant Pied?) Girl is a Sky Blue Opaline Dominant Pied or Clearflight Pied..something..Greywing maybe? Or Spangle? Sorry don't really know. They are beautiful birds, whatever their mutations. Edited January 21, 200916 yr by Jen144
January 21, 200916 yr I agree with most of what Jen said except Harry isnt opaline. Look in Dave_McMinns topic about his trip to Perth to see an oapline spangle or two of the same colour as harry. ................Dave called them Dumb and Dumber.
January 21, 200916 yr They are so gorgeous  , great photo's well done! I want all of them especially Harry!
January 21, 200916 yr I would say Harry is a cobalt or a skyblue carrying violet, as he is very vibrant and dark for a skyblue. He could be opaline Kaz, just a poorly marked one, seeing as we can't see his whole back. I have seen opalines where the spangle markings went normal towards the outer part of the wing. Trixie is a sky blue opaline domiant pied. Yep Girl is a sky blue opaline spangle dominant pied. I agree with Jen, looks like Sally could be a boy.
January 21, 200916 yr "Harry" I had a spangle once I thought was opaline as well as he had the same wing markings as Harry. But everyone here said he wasnt and as it turned out they were right. Those markings of Harrys would just be called a badly marked normal spangle by a show judge. SO I have learnt a thing or two since the "old days". Here is Dave's sky violet opaline spangles ( excuse the colour wash out due to flash ) same colour as Harry and I would call these guys and harry skyviolets. Dave's Dumb and Dumber You can see the difference in wing markings of a true opaline spangle and a normal with bad markings.
January 21, 200916 yr He does have more colour than your opalescent spangle though Kaz. Perhaps if we had a shot of his back? I agree with you Kaz, he would definitely get marked down on the opaline spangle part, but if he is heavily opalined in the V area, then to me that would suggest opaline spangle. Looking at the side of his neck though you are probably right. I would still like a picture of his back though.

January 21, 200916 yr I agree with Harry being a spangle. He is nice too. Lovely flock you have there :happy-dancing: Edited January 21, 200916 yr by **Liv**
January 21, 200916 yr Harry looks to be a skyblue or cobalt spangle Sally - Yf blue recessive pied Trixie is either a skyblue opaline clearflight pied or a skyblue opaline dominant pied. Girl looks to be a skyblue opaline spangle dominant pied
January 21, 200916 yr Spots? Spots on the face of the budgie SW :happy-dancing: Check out the opaline spangles face of Dave's photo and then check Harrys face. I have learnt a bit about this kind of thing recently as we do once we get into show breeding.
January 21, 200916 yr Author Hi averyone, Glad my dudes are causing so much controversy! As requested, some back pics of Harry and back and cere pics of Sally. I am pretty sure Sally is a girl, Harry is forever feeding her! Debbie
January 21, 200916 yr Oooohhh. okay. Yep Harry is definitely not an opaline spangle from those pictures Sally still looks boyish. How old is she? Edited January 21, 200916 yr by Sailorwolf
January 21, 200916 yr Author Not sure how old Sally is, still has no iris ring or is that just because she is a recessive pied? Oh dear, have I learnt something today????
January 21, 200916 yr Sally could easily be a recessive pied boy but time will tell with that. If old enough to be past its first moult and no cere colour change to nutty brown, Sally could be a boy. If young we have to wait.
January 22, 200916 yr Mork is a dominant pied skyblue spangle. And Mindy looks like a dilute reccesive pied spangle
January 22, 200916 yr is her back like that because she is about to lay an egg? is that what they call egg bum??
January 22, 200916 yr Author I think she is just absolutely buggered from having Mork on her back pretty much constantly for the last 3 days! Shagger's back?
