Posted January 10, 200916 yr I've searched so many sites trying to figure out what colour my little boy is but haven't been successful yet All the descriptions are so confusing to me! Here is a picture of him: Any help would be much appreciated
January 10, 200916 yr He looks to be a Yellow Face type 2 (YF2) Sky blue opaline to me. YF2 means the yellow from the face bleeds though to the body feather. he is very handsome too Edited January 10, 200916 yr by **Liv**
January 10, 200916 yr He is a Yellowface type 2 sky violet opaline Ps I have some just like him... Edited January 10, 200916 yr by KAZ
January 10, 200916 yr Author Thank you! I've always loved his colours. His head never used to have blue mixed through the yellow, there was a definite line. As he has aged the blue has been slowly taking over his beautiful yellow feathers, but he's still just as cute Also thanks for clearing that up for me, I've been told so many things over the years I didn't know what to believe! January 10, 200916 yr I'm not seeing much yellow in the body feathers at all. I would lean towards a Yf1 Edited January 10, 200916 yr by Sailorwolf
January 10, 200916 yr I don't see the bleeding into the wings at all now I remember Neville saying this would be a Yellow Face 1 and the yellow into the body that we see would be a fault but if it was a Yellow Face 2 the yellow would be in the wings too. Any confirmation on this?
January 10, 200916 yr I think YF 1 too, but sometimes a double factor yellow face 2 has very little yellow "bleeding" Edited January 10, 200916 yr by Neville
January 10, 200916 yr When I looked at the picture I seen a YF2 There is bleeding ( where the feathers look green) all the way down to the rump :cake: Also, Being opaline i couldn't see the Bleeding in the wings However when I look at the flights there is Yellow on them too
January 11, 200916 yr Well I see hardly any yellow. Your monitor must be turned way up. He is too blue to be a YF2 at that age. Edited January 11, 200916 yr by Sailorwolf
January 11, 200916 yr I see the yellow in the body not in the wings, I think breeding him out would probably solve the issue huh if he is going to be bred, I am leaning now toward YF2 Double Factor as Neville (suggested) if he is not a YF1.
January 12, 200916 yr I was leaning to yf2 at first, but there is only a little bleeding on the body- which may just be a yf1 with fault. My yf2's at that age have been quite greeny. Also he is club rung so the odds are in his favour for a yf1. There are some yf2 club birds but they cant be shown so most people lean away from them, they are more of a pet variety. He is handsome.
January 12, 200916 yr I say YF2 Opaline Sky Blue (with possible Violet factor). I see green bleeding through the body feathers (espeically near the rump) and I see Violet in the neck area... ??? My only question is that this birds looks like it's already gone through it's first molt and if it was YF2 wouldn't it have more green tone to it already if it were YF2??
