Posted December 31, 200816 yr Well Angus, Aiden and myself got the woodwork gear out again today and made this for Ernie. See if you can spot his very very happy face! Also let me know if you can spot any risks, its all made of dowel and eucalyptus branches and natural fibre rope. The new leaves are just stuck in holes, the wood is well and truely dead.
December 31, 200816 yr Awesome!!! He's going to love it. It all looks good too... just inspect it on a regular basis for wear and tear and replace if needed... Good job once again.
December 31, 200816 yr Author Thanks!! Will do Maesie. We've never seen him so active before!! He has explored every corner of it and seems to be really enjoying himself! Next project will be one that goes from the floor to the ceiling.
January 4, 200916 yr Oh...he's so cute! What a brillant play gym! You guys did an amazing job. He looks so happy.
January 5, 200916 yr Author just another shot without the foliage that we add daily and a new climbing toy we made today. recipe: thinly slice eucalyptus braches of varying widths, bake in oven at 250 for 30 minutes to kill any nasties and then drill holes and thread over wire. And heres another work in progress: okay, the boys had friends over today and I may have got a little bored. :thankyou: Edited January 5, 200916 yr by Hills
January 6, 200916 yr This is great! Do you glue it down or are they able to rotate? Edited January 6, 200916 yr by JimmyBanks
January 6, 200916 yr Author They're able to rotate, but its a tight fit around the dowel so they won't move on their own.
January 6, 200916 yr sweet... I must learn to be a better wood workerer.. I suppose it can't be that hard, but we are talking about me... I just have to find a nice think tree branch that has fallen off a tree...
