Posted December 21, 200816 yr I was packing up the pressies for the boys today and realised my oldest has a lot more than my youngest to open. Anyone have any good suggestions for a smart 2 year old who thinks he's older? One of the main reasons for the difference is that my oldest is getting an educational software pack so I'd like something along the 'educational' lines to make up the difference for my youngest. I have actually bought them almost identical gifts otherwise as they always want what each other has so it's easier if they each have their own.
December 21, 200816 yr Author I wish I had the money for something like that Splat. The thing I bought Alex cost about $25 so I need to stick around that price range Despite saying I wasn't getting them much this year this is the tally so far: Shared item: Basketball ring Alex(4): kids size wheelbarrow cool towel for swimming lessons educational pack(couple of computer games, a portable game with card insert things and a couple of work books) great value I thought furryville figurines (three packs, gardening bunnies, holiday pandas and rainy day ducks, like tiny bendable figurines with a family of animals) 3 animal puppets penguin figurine toy\ microphone for pretending Max: wheelbarrow towel for swimming 3 animal puppets dinosoar figurine toy microphone for pretending I have though about just giving all the puppets to Maxie to open(I wrapped each one seperately for extra fun ) but I'm a little worried that might cause problems Edited December 21, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
December 21, 200816 yr I can't think of anything maybe you should go browsing and see what you can find. Good luck What abouts some story books my kids and my grandkids love them, they love to be read too.
December 21, 200816 yr I bought my son some books where he has to trace over the letters of the alphabet for christmas, i got them from Angus and Robertson for $10. There was also books for young children where they just trace over patterns.
December 21, 200816 yr Author I was in the shops today and saw a little ukalale so we'll probably get him that as he loves music and singing. The boys have tons of books (like so many I had to get them an extra bookshelf!)
December 22, 200816 yr I have a very smart 3 year old son and my husband and I got him and our 4 year old daught the V. Motion game station and my mother got them the Smart Cycle and the Dance Cam. All interactive TV things... lets them be active and play video cames all at the same time. The Dance Cam lets them sing and dance and watch themselves on TV. They run $30 to $100 here in the US. They are both getting so bored with all the other stuff they have... I hope this works. I think you kids would both really enjoy one of them and it's something they can do together and not have to fight over. Puts them on the same palying fields... but allows them to be competitive. Good luck.
December 22, 200816 yr Author I've never even heard of any of those things!! Apart from that though my kids aren't really interested in anything TV related, we don't even have a VCR or DVD player :hap:
December 22, 200816 yr I've never even heard of any of those things!! Apart from that though my kids aren't really interested in anything TV related, we don't even have a VCR or DVD player Wow were are "worlds apart". They are some of the hottest selling toys this year for kids in that age group here in the US. Sorry I couldn't help, just a suggestion. Hope you find what you are looking for. Tick Tock... holiday rush!!! :hap:
December 22, 200816 yr Maybe one of those things where you have a pair of pads which have velcro on them and each person has one pad. They throw a tennis ball and the other person has to catch the tennis ball with the velcro pad (the tennis ball sticks to it). Good fun. I had one of those as a kid. Great for hand eye coordination. Plus if you get the youngest it, he will have to share it with the oldest to play, but still feels like it is his.
December 22, 200816 yr Author I'm sure they probably are here too Chrissy but I am kinda 'out of touch' when it comes to electronic ganes and things of that sort, as I said I don'teven have a VCR or DVD so computer games are a whole nother level above that. My kids just want to be outside, rain, hail or shine, my oldest just got a japara raincoat off his nanna and he's looking forward to a rainy day so he can go out and play in it I just send them outand when they comes back wet and muddy they get changed and have lunch And then go out again until dinner :hap: GRIP BALL!!!!!! I had one too SW, that's a great idea! Edited December 22, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
December 22, 200816 yr MB you are out of touch, those dance cam things are all over the place! Grip ball is good, so are skipping ropes and yoga mats. You can also get the big foam floor puzzles that doubles as a play mat.
December 22, 200816 yr Author Yeah my boys have a skipping rope, they tend to drag each other around by it though so I have to keep an eye on them :hap: I can't have those foam mat things as I'm allergic to them, I end up with a itchy rash if I touch them.
December 22, 200816 yr Kids Walkie talkies are great fun and are under $20 for a pair :hap: Also water pistols and super soakers are awesome fun. what about some sort of lazor skirmish - i love playing that and i think you can get some sets quite cheap.
December 22, 200816 yr Author My oldest says we can't get either of those Liv because "We don't like guns, and we don't pretend with guns" :hap: Thanks for the ideas though,it seems my children are 'hopeless'
December 22, 200816 yr Author I like the walky talkies but not sure whether my youngest is a bit small yet, given he can't even talk properly yet.... Maybe for my oldests birthday in June, by that time Max should be talking a bit better My mum is on the look out for a grip ball set for me, ifwe don't find one by the time we goon Wednesday we'll grab the ukelale for him :hap: Thanks all
December 22, 200816 yr Author We have puzzles coming out our ears :hap: They are all great ideas though, it's tough finding something that is both suitable and that they don't already have, I think they'll be happy though regardless of what they get
