i did look at the budgie faq first . and cold not find any answers theer.

Can you link to the site so we can see which ones you are talking about, there are some black budgies but generally not in Aus

There are no peach coloured budgies. Blackish ones that they call blackface exist but are a rare variety at this stage and not usually sold on the open market unless by specialised breeders.

are you sure they where not talking about Lovebirds mutations?

I was wonderin that too, maybe someone worded an ad something like For sale: Budgies, peachface and blacks or something like that, if so the second two would most likely refer to lovebirds

The Black ones as Kaz said are Blackface or Melanistic (not confused with the spangle variety) but there are no peach colour ones. Red is not yet seen in the species. Not yet any way.

well i am pretty sure the lady got it wrong because parakeets and budgies are not the same are they? oh well hahah.

Well in America, budgerigars are sometimes known as Parakeets.

i contacted the site and she said that they were parakeets at 6 month old. and the blacks she had sold out of weird. xx Elise xx

maybie she is lying ?

budgies are a species of parakeets, ask her what type of parakeet because there are different species, she probably is not lying.

Parakeets live in many diverse habitats and are found throughout Australia, Asia, tropical and subtropic regions of Africa, Central and South America.

Australia has over 30 species of parakeet including: Budgerigar, Cockatiel (described in the Cockatiel section), Bourke's Parakeet, Princess of Wales, Red-rumped Parakeet, Stanley Parakeet, Mulga Parakeet, Scarlet-chested Parakeet, Red-winged Parakeet, Turquoise Parakeet, Blue-winged Parakeet, Red-capped Parakeet, Elegant Parakeet, Superb Parakeet, Regent Parakeet, Mallee Ringneck Parakeet, Port Lincoln Parakeet, Australian King Parakeet, and five of the six species of the Rosellas including the Pennant's Parakeet (Crimson Rosella), Golden-manteled Rosella (Eastern Rosella), and the Pale-headed Rosella, .

Asian parakeets include the Derbyan Parakeet, Indian Ringneck Parakeet, Mustached Parakeet, Rose-ringed Parakeet, and the Plum-headed Parakeet.

New Zealand has 2 species including the Yellow-fronted Parakeet.

Central and South American parakeets (whose colorings are not quite as intense as the Australian parakeets) include: the Quaker or Monk Parakeet, Barred Parakeet, Canary-winged Parakeet, Grey-cheeked Parakeet, Orange-chinned Parakeet, Tui Parakeet, and conures such as the Mitred Conure and the Nanday Conure (see them under the Conure section). http://animal-world.com/encyclo/birds/para...keetProfile.htm

So I would ask her what type of parakeet :)

Wow! It would be unusual for a Aussie to call ANY bird a parakeet. We call them all parrots (eg. red-rumped parrot), parakeet is very american. But if the seller got the info of an american website then it is possible she is referring to any one of those species.

she said they were peach face parakeets and aslso said there is only one type of parakeet... i personally dont know what she is on about . oh well xx Elise

I agree a link would be great!!

he is nice I would pay a bit to have him in my aviary thats for sure what do you think?

See I still wouldn't call that black... he is more grey to me... but yes he's a nice bird...

Am I the only one interested in reading LBB's educating of this lady?? I am sure it will be compelling reading...

Good on you

Some people just don't know do they.

That's when you get out the scientific names of budgies and canaries and go "Look they are NOT the same species!"
