Such a cute little thing! Looks like it may be having a stress moult maybe. Several of my babies have gone through this and I am now just waiting until they are old enough for their first real moult and keeping my fingers crossed that their flights and tail feathers grow back in

Stress moults replace almost as quickly as they dropped out...within a week or two or three. French moult doesnt.

Sunnie...if you are still waiting, it may never happen.

Pearce...hard to say...definitely NOT feather duster. French moult is my opinion. If they grow back in a couple of weeks then stress moult but in my expereince stress moult is flights and tailfeathers only and not involving the body feathers like yours. I say french moult.

Hi Pearce I would say that your budgie is definatly French Moult, The main reason that I say this is that with a feather duster budgie, the bird grows feathers that curl and continue to grow without stopping as a normal bird's feathers stop. There is an article that was written by Mavis Metcalf in regards to the feather duster budgie where she also has a link to a page of pics of birds with the feather duster disorder.

Mavis Metcalfs article :The article

Pictures of the Feather Duster can be found at this site:Feather Dusters

I hope this links help

Thanks everyone for all the help.

Im happy she is not a feather duster, It doesnt bother me if she cannot fly. I have 2 other avairy birds who cannot fly. I have ladders and perches close to the ground so all the birds can climb up.

Thankyou

Hi

none of the babies in neon and thunders nest have flight feathers or a tail. The eldest has no colour on his chest either.

That sounds like french moult

From those pictures I can see some new pin feathers at the bottom of the wing that look like they could be flight feathers.

Side note with french moult: New Zealand doesn't have it! hehe

Sometimes moulters grow back their feathers, treat them for lice.

Do I spray them with lice spray?

Update: Look at him... he looks so sick, he is losing feathers under his beak now.
