Missing flight feathers can mean he is a french moult survivor or he may ( upon close inspection ) be developing feather cysts where these feathers emerge. he will have nothing contagious and can live with the flock.
November 9, 200816 yr I agree with Kaz, the only way you will know is if an avian vet does x-rays to see if there is a tumor.
November 9, 200816 yr I believe it would be too risky to remove it and cured no the only way is to remove it. and it could be cancerous or benign, with budgies it is usually left alone.
November 9, 200816 yr Author Hi Thankyou elly. If it cannot be cured, how long until it takes over his body and kills him? Can abudgie live a full healthy life with a tumour? Is a tumour contagous to other birds?
November 9, 200816 yr Well we can't jump to conclusions and say it is a tumor if you want a confirmed diagnosis you will need to take him to an avian vet. If it is a tumor it just depends on what type and how fast it is growing that can't be determined unless there are tests and that is a decision you will have to make. He can live a very good life, you just have to keep an eye on him for any declining signs of health, and tumors are not contagious.

November 10, 200816 yr Still get him checked out anyway as it could be some other cause. Some tumours are benign such as sertoli cell tumours. These secrete oestrogen and make the male budgie more feminine. They can continue to grow and compress other organs though. Malignant tumours can destroy testicular tumours causing a decrease in testosterone production. Malignant tumours are worse as they often spread to other areas of the body. However get him checked out. Also is his cere crusty? Some scaley face mite infections can cause crusting over the cere that makes it look brown.
November 10, 200816 yr Author HI Sailorwolf. Thankyou for your help. I treated him with iverctmin 3 weeks ago for the scaly face and then treated him again yesterday. Still no improvement... Anyway thank you very much everyone for all your help. Edited November 10, 200816 yr by maesie
