November 15, 200816 yr Great setup!!! I'm sure he is going to LOVE it :reading: Very well researched... Good stuff mate.
November 15, 200816 yr Lovely set up I have to point out that those bells cannot be copper as they do not tarnish blue. Copper goes blue/turquoise when tarnished and the bells on those gyms do not go blue, so they are not copper, most likely brass. Mine is very tarnished, but it is not blue. They are copper. But a varnish sealer is used on these items which stops the tarnishing. I used to sell brassware and copper and was involved in the process to seal it from tarnishing. The sealant has to be fully removed and reapplied over time also. But in budgie toys it begins to look like cr*p and then we end up tossing it out. Better it isnt in there in the first place. Brass is an entirely different colour, And these copper ones are marketed and labelled as copper. Edited November 15, 200816 yr by KAZ
November 15, 200816 yr very nice, the cage looks a small but is suitable for 1 budgie :reading: from the angle I see it at but I like the seed wrap a lot to keep in the mess.
November 15, 200816 yr Someone should complain to the company about it. About the bell. Edited November 16, 200816 yr by Sailorwolf

November 16, 200816 yr Author Thanks all We had a spare silver coloured bell so we have replaced it just to be sure. Hopefully the cage might look a bit bigger when theres a budgie in it. The woman at the shop also said that it would be fine for two budgies. I was going to get the next size up but it wouldn't fit in the boot! :bliss: Anyway if we can stick to your instuctions Elly, hopefully he'll be able to spend a fair amount of time out of the cage. I got the wood working gear out of mothballs today and built Claude's transport cage.
November 16, 200816 yr I also house two in a cage pretty much the same as yours and they have plenty of room (except when they want to sit on the exact same centremeter of perch haha... Claude's travel cage is brilliant!!! Great work. :bliss:
November 16, 200816 yr Author Haha, I know what that's like. We're on an acre of land but that's not big enough when my 2 sons want to stand on the same square centemeter of earth! Hopefully they will have been good training for owning 2 male budgies! :bliss: Edited November 16, 200816 yr by Hills

November 17, 200816 yr That's a really cool travel cage. I would order some chinchilla houses to be made if only you didn't live in another country
November 17, 200816 yr Author Bummer, I'm always looking for an excuse to get back into cabinet making, its one of my many other hobbies (or therapies )
November 17, 200816 yr I'm sure many ozzie forum members would gladly give you orders for nest boxes and breeder cabinets.
November 17, 200816 yr Author I'd better not bite off more than I can chew. I'm sure I can think of more projects around here to keep myself entertained. I'm thinking a huge budgie adventure playgound might be next.
November 17, 200816 yr Budgie adventure playgrounds are so much fun to invent and make! Edited November 17, 200816 yr by Sailorwolf
November 18, 200816 yr Author okay, so I may have gone abit overboard this time, but since we had some left over curtain material, I decided to get the sewing machine out of mothballs this time Edited November 18, 200816 yr by Hills
