Thanks, I think all the bars were parralel parrelell paral... pointed in the same direction, but I'll check.

Yes the flight area was exactly the same, just had the arches on top.

Sounds fine... Parallel ( :bump: ) bars would be fine :D Easy for them to climb up to.

That's easy for you to say! :D

Cheers, I hadn't thought about their toes getting caught, but I'll keep it in mind when checking it out.

Haha, I'm exactly the same way, however as we're going to wait for a budgie from a breeder, we're not in that much of a hurry to get the cage. :bump:

What sort of budgie are you getting?

  • Author

Well hopefully (fingers crossed etc), if one of Sunnie's latest clutch turn out to be male, then one of them. She has advised me she has 5 chicks but I haven't heard any more news at this stage. This is her thread showing the parents: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....mp;#entry268910

Eventually we'd like to get 2 males, but want to get one first and try and get it to bond to us before getting the second. (And thanks to this forum I'm full bottle on quarantining and also prepared to get a second cage if they don't get along).

The only negative about a shaped top is that you cant put anything on top of the cage like a playgym if you wanted to.

Hi just me again!,

There's a cage on ebay which I think would be perfect except for needing to change the perches to the other direction which is easy, I wish I knew how to link ebay items onto the forum but have no idea, anyway as of 1.40am Wednesday night there's a cage which is due to finish auction in 18 hour and 20 mins approx from a seller called Pet Station (9883) which bar spaces is 1 cm and is on a stand with castors, and has a flat roof measurements 77cm X 46cm X 100cm - 160cm with stand for $135, can anyelse check this out :bump: and let me know if I'm right with the assumsion that with the perches changed which I would do anyway to put natural perches in, this cage is a keeper :D .

>This one<

Thanks for the headsup Budgielover13!! I did see that but its $60 to post to Adelaide and I'd be a bit worried if it would survive the postage. Great looking cage though, but I'd rather just pick one up from the shops if I could. if I were in Vic, it would be mine!! :D

I have the same cage for breeding too but I use mine mainly for kindy cage as it is great keeping the birds clean.

Shortly I will be turning them into show holding cages.

Yeah Hills,

The postage would be a killer, I'm lucky enough to live close enough to pick it up from the warehouse and not have to pay postage :chickendance: . Sshhh don't tell anyone but I have a round cage :tut_tut: with stand at the moment but am going to bid on this one today, mind you the door of the cage is open I would say at least of 3/4 of daytime hours so hopefully Smiggle isn't getting too stressed out in the cage and it is going to be replace ASAP.

Also a BIG :D for linking the cage onto the forum, I'm doing much better on the computer front since joining this forum but some things are still just a little beyond me.

I hope you find a cage which suites you and your feathered friend soon.

Haha, no worries, good luck bidding!!

My wife is an eBay bandit and her advice is only place a couple of bids at the last minute and if you get out bidded, just hold off as they may well send you a second chance offer if they have more than one cage.

Post some more pics when you get it :D

Yeah I tend to wait until the last minute before I bid, no point in just upping the price by bidding earlier, but I have noticed that this store has quite a few of these cages and the bidding has never really gone much beyond the starting bid so here's hoping.

Personally I like the 604s they are a great buy. I really, really, really, really want one. The rat cage I bought for the budgies isn't quite as cool.

Whats a 604??

Now that Liv has a budgie for us the urgency to get a cage has increased a bit. Another of our local pet shops has good sized flat top cages for $69 or $89 for the largest one, so I think we'll just get the largest one and I'll make a nice wooden stand for it.

  • Author

Ah I see, thanks for that.

How many budgies would you accomodate comfortably in that?

I would say six could be very happy in a cage that size :D

Thanks Sunnie

By the looks of it, the cage we're looking at is the same size except only half the height. Eventually after Claude has had enough time to bond with us, we'd like to get another male for my other son. If they get along together, then I assume our cage should be fine for 2?

Thanks to a tip from Tam we went to a great bird shop today and bought Claudes new abode. They were much much cheaper than the shops up here, so we could spend the change on some toys.

Looks fantastic !!! :)

Only one minus....ditch the copper bell.

QUOTE..........Heavy metals (Lead, zinc and copper)

These metals are toxic to the birds nervous system and can be found in the galvanising on wire, electrical wires, curtain weights and line, fishing sinkers, toys, old paint and marine paint, window putty, batteries, solder, linoleum, stained glass linings and plaster.

Excellent, thanks Kaz, its gone! :)

Lovely set up

I have to point out that those bells cannot be copper as they do not tarnish blue. Copper goes blue/turquoise when tarnished and the bells on those gyms do not go blue, so they are not copper, most likely brass. Mine is very tarnished, but it is not blue.

Haha, Thanks Claude! See you soon! :reading:

Thanks Liv, here's a smaller picture, for some reason I can't edit my last post or I'd put it in there.
