We have a huge aviary with quails in and it's the only aviary that any of ours have survived. Quite often, the cock birds will kill the babies. It is probably best to remove them when the babies have hatched, I believe. We had four babies in one of our smaller aviaries last year and I was delighted to see the gorgeous little fluffs running around, and upset to find them all dead the next day :)

Hope you find a solution ... Is there a quail forum that you could join and ask ?

I agree with Sunnie. Same thing with any quails we have ever had that hatched babies. Remove the Dads once the hens begin to sit on the eggs and see how it turns out.

Topics regarding health and support etc. of other animals besides budgies will be removed. However, feel free to post about your other pets with images etc.

I won't remove since you have been given some good advice but know that we are a budgie support forum and this is the rules that have been layed out by the board owner :).

We love pictures though and updated on babies.

are you sure its not because of the funny face that neat put in this thread Elly? You know we are searching diligently for these faces... It is very important that we find them all :)

I didn't even see it Jimmy just following rules, I don't want to get fired :hap:

It's all good Elly, just having a bit of a laugh. You gotta watch neat... all these games she introduces... Is she like the Games Mod or something?

as soon the eggs hatch i move the newly hatched chicks and both parents into a cage. i find that since i started doing this i have a higher survival rate.
