Posted March 21, 200520 yr Hi guys, Today when i put Blinkie back in his cage he did this really strange thing with his wings. It really scared me so i took him out. Once he was out the wing thing stopped. I thought he was acting. I've been really worried about it, i tried to check his wing but he wouldn't let me have a proper look. I couldn't straighten it without upsetting him. He can still fly just a far as ever but i'm still concerned. I would love to take him to the vet but dad will say there's nothing wrong and i don't have enough money to pay for a check up myself! :bluebudgie: Does anyone have any advice on what i could do? PS: I also weighed him to see if maybe his weight was down. He weighed 31grams which is up a couple of grams from a week ago. Edited March 21, 200520 yr by Bea
March 21, 200520 yr Author It kind of went twitchy. It just looked out of place. It was his clipped wing if that would have anything to do with it but i clipped his wing weeks ago and have had experience doing it.
March 21, 200520 yr :bluebudgie: Budgies have bones in the wings so don?t try and straighten it Ouch that would hurt! Leave him alone and check him later on if it?s still bent then my advice would be to take him to a vet. As you can imagine how painful it would be to have a broken leg well your bird would be feeling the same pain Unless it?s wrapped its wing at a strange angle one of my birds when mating wraps its wings around the female just like a big hug But I think they do this to balance there position so as not to fall off. Anyway hope your bird gets well soon
March 21, 200520 yr Author I checked him just now and saw him stretch it out when he was stretching his leg so i hope that means it was just me being a worried mother! You said ONE of your birds stretched his wing around the girl when mating. I thought all budgies did this. :bluebudgie: All mine do anyway.
March 21, 200520 yr Sometimes they will get a flight feather or two out of place and will twitch until it is fixed. Most of the time you can't see it, but for whatever reason sometimes a feather will lay underneath the ones next to it instead of along the top edge. If they can't get it to lay right by flipping the wing, then they will preen it. If your bird was out flying maybe that is what happened.
March 22, 200520 yr Author Flipping his wing sounds like what he was doing. Thanks for the help guys.
