Have you ever heard a budgie coo? I though it was a low maybe dolphin voice but it is like a dove cooing, Merlin will do that on my shoulder when he talks and even when I am talking to him when he is in his cage, I don't make that sound so I know he isn't mimicking me.

Yes i have Barney who coo's too. It's odd to hear ha :fear

that is cool thanks Liv, I have never had anyone ask that question or heard of it so I was wondering.

Casper used to do it too... usually when he was on my shoulder and feeling sleepy... he'd jsut sit and nobble on my earring making those little cooing noises.

Merlin is not allowed to nibbile on my ear it tickled at first and now he unexpecting decides to take a chop so I keep pushing him away. Casper reminds me of Merlin - he was so sweet I bet you miss him.

Hehe! Casper was never interested in my ear... it obviously wasn't shiny enough... he preferred my earrings!

 

Yeah... It took a long time before I wanted another budgie after he went. But once I was ready my husband bought me Smokey for my birthday. Smokey is so different to Casper (obviously he's a different colour!, but personality-wise mainly) which is really great because it means I can rememeber Casper and not feel like I've "replaced" him, just moved on. And as I got Smokey not long after we were married, it helped the moving-on as well... new stage of my life, new budgie... it all felt right.

Yes they are so different, Pretty was very different then Merlin. Merlin still remains calm and much more cuddler, while Pretty was just so ornery...memories I will always remember. I miss that boy but because of what did happen I would have never gotten so close to Merlin that is why I have chosen not to get another budgie I see how having 1 to 2 to 1 again does change the relationship especially when you are looking for a intimate pet relationship with your pet.
