Posted September 26, 200816 yr My bird regularly regurgitates at nothing. He will sit on his perch and chirp away at nothing, and I look over and he is regurgitating to nothing!? Is this normal. He also does this while underneath the kitchen table (sneaky thing!) Edited September 26, 200816 yr by KAZ
September 26, 200816 yr Yes it's quite normal. not all budgies do it, but he is just getting carried away with his flirting

September 26, 200816 yr Author Flirting with what!? I understand if they do it to toys and stuff buts all too his "ïmaginary friend". Nope it all wood. I wish i could get it on video.
September 26, 200816 yr One of my newly fledged chicks today was having a little conversation with a wooden perch....already ?? I thought ...........hmmmm.....must be a boy
September 26, 200816 yr Boys tend to converse with anything when they are in that state of mind, I know Merlin does , if you find it going overboard you can also increase the cover time of the cage to about 12-14 hours for a week and that will settle the hormonals down.
September 27, 200816 yr I think the flirtation is cute. My late Arkady was very flirtatious and used to flirt with the air! He would just sing and bob his head at nothing.
September 27, 200816 yr I put it down to personality as well - I noticed that the birds that are the most out going and have a strong bond with you tend to do this -
January 10, 200916 yr I'm glad somebody asked about this, I've been wondering about it lately. My budgie Leo regurgitates on anything and everything, even his own feet (he doesn't seem to realise they are a part of him, he will sit there and feed, talk to and watch them lol ) It got worse after we bought our hen, Leo only used to regurgitate on his mirror occasionally before she arrived. I reckon its cute I actually managed to get a video of him feeding her this afternoon, usually they stop what they're doing when I grab the camera!!

In love with his own feet!! I love it!Charley is totally in love with my nose, he rubs his neck on my nose and it (nose) ends up right inside the "down" where his scrawny little neckbone is!! Its hilarious.. he smells nice luckily (like clean fur!!) but it feels rather awkward as his neck is so scrawny and he keeps moving his little head around so I get the right spot. He also does the regurgitating actions now and then but (luckily) doesnt actually bring up anything (into my nose!!) I think its cute the fact that he loves my nose enough to do that! and just to add.... my other budgie, Maxie, dislikes me with a passion!!! When I venture near HER cage she gives me a cranky little "twitter"... and raises her beak in a threatening attacking mode!! I have had her longer than Charley (they are in separate rooms) but I guess some budgies just do not want human interaction. I spent a lot of time initially trying to tame her however she has never shown the slightest interest. I've given up. I still talk to her sweetly but from a little distance. I put it down to the fact that I bought her from a petshop and perhaps she had bad experiences with humans in the shop, maybe handling her or just poking fingers at her. Charley was from a breeder who handled him constantly so was tame from the day I got him.Just interesting the difference in their little personalities!! Edited January 11, 200916 yr by thk

Thats just like my budgies... my boy Leo was from a breeder and hes always been very tame, but my hubby's hen (who is from a pet shop) definitely isn't! She hates me! She's a daddy's girl If I try handle her she raises her beak and tweets angrily, but she's sweet as pie with her 'dad'
