September 22, 200816 yr Did you decide on names yet? My bush budgies are Shiela and Bazza Edited September 22, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
September 22, 200816 yr How old is the bush budgie hen ? She looks really young to me there, I can't even see an Iris ring? Probably best to remove her from a breeding situation for now. Lovely photo's By The Way
September 22, 200816 yr Author I havent decided on names yet, but im thinking dargo - cock (aboriginal for waiting with patience) and darnum - hen (aboriginal for parrot). *libby*: her iris ring is as prominant as the cocks, its just the picture. She has laid before while she was in our shop. She hatched 2 at one stage but they didnt survive. I dont know how old she is but she looks well over a year old. She has been in our store for 6 months or so and when she came in she looked the same - breeding condition cere, white iris etc etc. Edited September 22, 200816 yr by KAZ
September 22, 200816 yr I think its cool you are finding native names for the bush budgies. That was the first thing that came to my mind - aboriginal names
September 22, 200816 yr Libby concern was only age so it would be fine Which shop is it? (If you don't mind sharing- PM me if you would prefer)
September 22, 200816 yr Author YAY! *jumps up and down excitedly!* Its a place called Fantastic Pets in Narre Warren (next to bunnings) Edited September 22, 200816 yr by jwancia
September 22, 200816 yr MB if you are going via a pet shop can I come Pretty pictures of pretty birds. Can I ask where you got your breeding box from?
September 22, 200816 yr If you are silly enough to come you'll be in for the long haul! I have to drive to Bentleigh to pick up the fish tank/stand and then to Narre Warren to pick up my painting and then back home. I was planning to harrass my brother in law to catch the train up from his place and help me carry things. Happy for extra hands or if you just want to meet somewhere though

September 22, 200816 yr HEheheh pressures on! (By The Way ill be working saturday).... now im really worried what you guys are gonna say about the shop :S If it is run well, clean and the animals are well cared for, you should have nothing to worry about!! :rip: It's sad that some owners give pet shops bad names, because not all are like that. But pet shops get bad names especially when it comes to budgies and I've seen it firts hand. It's almost like alot of owners have an attitude that budgies are just a "$20" bird so they don't seem to give them the attention and care they need. I've seen small shops that have 6 or 7 budgies in one small 18" cage with only one feed dish and one water bowl with no toys or anything. And even some of the larger pet store chains don't put anything extra into them. usually you just see some display cage suffed in the middle of the showroom floor while the other $100 Parrots are in a private "quiet room" with toys and snacks, etc.... I can't stand that. Not to mention the pups and stuff they buy cheap from puppy mills and sell for hundreds of dollars.... Take pride in your store and the care you give to your animals and prove everyone wrong that not ALL pet shops are bad. You're home birds look wonderful and I'm sure you care for your shop birds as if they were your own.
