Vitamin C is essential for good appetite and strength. It is contained in fresh vegetables and fruits. budgies need iron for breeding otherwise may lead to feather plucking hens and attacked chicks.

Vit C, I think, is also involved in collagen maintenance (or something in that area). A deficiency results in Scurvy, a disease where your hair falls out, your teeth fall out and your skin loses it elasticity and is itchy. Not the best for you, but totally reversible (unless you lost that tooth, lol). sailors in the 1500-1600's used to get it all the time. Students often get it (lol). Its from not eating your fruit and veges!!. We know someone who had it because they just ate pies all the time.

Your right SW, I remember learning in school that pirates on ships would it because they didn't have access to V. C. :P
