Well I will just update this post. Today I gave him his veggies and added seed to the top he nibbled at the veggies but didn't eat the seed (SO ODD), and when I put the millet spray in the container he refused to eat it I had to make it hang over. He pecked at the container but refused to get up on it. I wonder instead of the food change if something scared him and I didn't know about it? Other then that he looks good, singing, poo's are good just being very odd about the food container.

OH and yes I did put the seed in another dish still the same thing won't touch it.

Man - I am glad to hear that he is doing well now ...

Renee What are the odds mate - How lucky that Elly posted this when she did ....

Av - Becarful with the breeders in Molt, Keep close eyes on any babies if they have hatched and check that the hens are still sitting .....

It is really important that Change of food is introduced slowly Budgies are Fussy ...

That's good to hear Merlin is okay. :hap:

I've been try to get my budgies to eat pellets. I finally did yay!!! What I did was wait for their seed to be eaten, then put pellets in and left them like that. So they were hungry enough to try the pellets. Then after about 2-3 hrs I give them their normal stuff. So hopefully this means they will get pellets every 2 days.

SW that is awesome, I tried the pellet thing but 1 thing I learned about Merlin it doesn't matter how hungry he is he did go on strike, will give him veggies with seed on top today and see what happens, I remember I did this the other way around to get him to eat veggies...I can't figure him out.

Poor fellow... They are a worry hey??? Good luck with getting his appetite back :hap:

An update: last night I decided to take away the millet for the night and when he woke up I knew he would be hungry. I gave him his veggies he nibbled them and I put the seed on top which he didn't touch after much begging and the eye to me lol he finally jumped up on his food dish and did a nibble and did it a couple times. So I am going to do this to get him more intrigued into eating his seed and veggies and not the millet and wean him off of it. He is checking out the bottom of the cage now for millet seeds fallen LOL, I will give him some here in about a couple hours as I don't want what happened before but this is where we are now.

Hope to hear he is back to his normal self really soon -_-

The hardest thing to ignore is the begging you know budgies DO beg, he is either hanging on the cage bars or on the platform eyeing me like "give me milet", his head is very itchy too because he molted a lot off by the cere so he looks patchy now, I wish he would let me scratch his head he is rubbing it on the cage bars now.

He's stubborn isn't he. I hope he'll sort himself out soon and start behaving! Good luck :budgiedance:

An Update:

Over the last couple days I have taken away the millet at night and in the morning giving him veggies & seed, he picks at it then around 12 I will give him a millet spray. So today, I decided to do something different, I let him out of his cage for his normal routine but instead I took his veggies & seed and decided to work with him.

I held his greens in my fingers and he went to town on them then I spreaded some seed on my desk and I used my finger and started to peck at them like a budgie...and what does he do he eyes them and starts eating them like crazy. He didn't chose a seed I watched him he ate whatever was around.

So the question is why oh why is he being so fussy in his cage?

He probably just needed some encouragement to know the food is safe to eat :D

Well done :budgiedance:
