September 9, 200816 yr What lovely pics and gorgeous little ones! I would hazard to say Greygreen is taking over your aviary .... LOL It's so hard, it just seems the biggest birds are greygreen cinnamons.... at least that's how it is for me. I just put 2 greygreen normals together and was resigned to greygreen outcome but to my delight I got a green and a grey. So there's hope!
September 9, 200816 yr Author Thats what I need to hear Renee- that something other than greygreen can be born!!! I have hoped in the past but just greygreens at the moment!. THe parents of the greygreens (not cinnamons) are light green and greygreen are down on another 5 fertile eggs due in 2 weeks. Now I'm home I can put a few more pairs down before it gets too hot here. Got back from over east just in time to ring a green pied chick just squeezed it over its knuckle- phew I missed ringing its mum when she was young! Your 2 fellas are going well will keep you updated on them. Joel- I'm a fan of light green also. Just have to adjust some pairings to get some!!
September 10, 200816 yr Great pictures. Common thing with grey green take overs in show type budgies When the quality in the birds goes up you seem to have got there through the grey green element
September 10, 200816 yr I remember reading somewhere in an article that greys can tend to get very dominanting factor because it shows up in both greens and blues it is more visible then probably the violet gene.
September 10, 200816 yr I had the same problem greygreen and greys it come with the show bird. All the family would say they are all the same colour,so I got into clearwing & blackeyed self and started breeding them some lovely coloured birds and end up helped the club I was in for the interbranch competion plus it is easy to sell clearwings. Steve
September 10, 200816 yr Author the cins and spangles were from a grey/ light green pairing I had hopes of maybe getting something else- wishful thinking although I did get a grey spangle from them like dad!
