I have a Cock called Angel who everyone the breeder, other people who have seen him in person and I all think he is a cock however I put him in with a hen and he spends all the time in the breeding box. From what I know he acts like a hen not a cock and this worries me that I might have got it wrong.

that's what i thought but he is acting like a hen. Will leave them another week and see if anything happens

I would say a cock too and in good breeding condition, I have a pair in at the moment and he is in the box nearly as much as she is, even goes in when she isn't. :D

Cock. Most of my boys check out the nestbox first ....and then they do the NUDGE NUDGE WINK WINK to the hens till the hens get the idea as well. Maybe thats what you are seeing.

If it was a hen its cere would have gone brown well before now.

thanks guys I thought that two but started to second guess myself. :D

:P Don't we ALL!!!

His cere looks like that of a baby hen. But at 2 years old if he was a hen he should have a light blue or brown cere.

I immediately thought hen, but when you mentioned he is 2 years old, then it is very unlikely.

Your options:

1. He is very encouraging of the hen

2. He is actually a really masculine hen (lol)

3. He is in touch with his feminine side :D

4. He is a hermaphrodite or false hermaphrodite

5. He thinks your choice of hen is ugly :P

Av I have been doing a lot of that lately, second guessing myself and etc. I know that one day I will have that confidence

in myself to believe in me,.But until my training wheels come off I am happy to ask for assistance with my BBC.

OMG was that a mushy moment from Neat .....Ekk

I agree cock too, Pretty's cere looked like that at one point, in fact I think I have a picture of it in the FAQ's.

Yeah looks like a male to me also…I had the same trouble with a Fallow, I put a picture on here to see what others thought & not one person would make a comment, eventually after trying a few hens with him, he is now a Father so I got my proof.

I'd say definately a cock. Perhaps Sailorwolf has hit the problem with number 5
