Posted August 17, 200817 yr So the planning for Budgie #2 has been pushed ahead, now that Piccolo's behaviour is improving and I won't be moving in with my partner until January. So I am looking at cages. Is this overkill for two birds? Cage on Ebay I note that it is the same size as Elly's cage in this post. I saw one similar to this model at the pet store - measuring 32L x 17W x 32H (not including stand) for $185. So it was smaller than this one. Would it be fine for two?
August 17, 200817 yr Just make sure with those largre cages that the bar spacing is less than about 15mm at the most As Jodie said, the bigger the better
August 17, 200817 yr Author Just make sure with those largre cages that the bar spacing is less than about 15mm at the most As Jodie said, the bigger the better The Ebay ad says 1cm (10mm), but I usually prefer to buy things in person so that I am can be 100% sure. So I will go back to the pet store and measure the ones that are there to be sure. With the bigger cages, will they be less likely to come out and play?
August 17, 200817 yr I paid 100.00 US for shipping and handling on E-Bay for my cage, I can't remember the dimensions but it seems a lot of people have that same cage that I do and I only have 1 budgie, is it overkill NO the more flight room they have the better. E-Bay is FINE to buy from but always read the information on the buyer the positive and negatives, there were a couple negatives on my seller but a lot more positives and they had sold over 3000 items, I no issues and he even sent me another water cup because mine was broke. August 17, 200817 yr I agree with lots of points already made... BIGGER is better, that way they have plenty of room to fly around and if there are days you don't have time to let them have out of cage time, it's no big deal. Watch for cage bar spacing. I bought my first cage off ebay and although the bar spacing was meant to be okay, when it arrived it was a little too wide. I used it for a little while whilst my chicks were just out of the nest... then I bought a new one (same as Bea's in that post) and it's awsome. You asked if they have a bigger cage will they be less likely to come out and play... I would say NO. If you are working with them to tame them etc... they'll still want to play with you Remember to quartine your new budgie in another room for 30 days, and good luck. Please keep us updated on your purchase

Well, Elly, it IS a nice cage that you have! I am usually an eBay buyer for books and DVDs. I guess I am a traditional girl who likes to see before buying! Ha ha!
August 17, 200817 yr I was worried at first too it was my first purchase on e-bay but I had seen other people on here buy it off of e-bay with no issues and I also read about the buyer, a cage like I have would have been over 150 US in the store so I took the risk. I actually had 2 in there but Pretty passed away so only Merlin is in there and it is huge for him but it makes me feel good that if I can't get him out for flight time he has all the room he needs in there
