Posted August 15, 200817 yr Hello, I am new here! I have been non-stop reading all the information on this site and finally I decided to join. A bit about me: My fiance Adam and I (Alissa) located in the North-West of Tasmania, Australia breed budgies among other animals. Here at our place we have 16 budgies. 8 female and 8 male, hoping to breed them selectively. And Adam at his dads place has a massive avairy with about 100 budgies (not related just so you all know) and 20 cockatiels and canaries and finches and quail and rosa burkes and whatever else he has that breed naturally with who ever they wish and they bring out some amazing babies which we sell to the local pet shop. I cant wait to ask some questions and find out some more info. I will get some pictures for you all very very soon. Thanks guys!

Unfortunately my little sister accidently let to of the boys out yesterday and I only was able to catch one and that was today after he came back so insted of 16 budgies its 15 and the boy who flew aways partner isnt happy
August 23, 200816 yr Author Hey everyone, Unfortunately the camera isnt working AND 2 of our boys, JIGSAW(my fav) and a little green n yellow boy, have escaped never to be seen again due to my little sister trying to help uncover them (hawks, crows) But we have now 20 budgies all but 4 of have paired up. AND GUESS WHAT IM A MUMMY!!! maybe lol. I just found out today that there is an egg in the nest box of a blue male and a blue pied female aka STUD and CLOUDY lol. the funniest thing is that my little sister put a little pebble in one of the boxes and she is as if she is incubating the rock and the egg??? WEIRD. We are currently constructing a very big avairy and we bought an avairy too today Thanks everyone. Can anyone give me some advice on making breeding easier. Just little handy hints. I know well the basics but would like some more ideas. Thankyou ALLLLLLLL
August 23, 200816 yr Breeding poses many different challenges. For the moment make sure your breeding pairs are getting lots of calcium in their diets for egg production. :hap:

August 23, 200816 yr Best advice I was given well one of the best is plenty of soft food for the parents while they are rearing their young ... Makes it easier for them to feed the babies!
