Posted August 6, 200816 yr I took the kids to the zoo on Monday, thought you would enjoy some of the animals we saw , I will try to remember all the names. These are the New Guinea Singing Dogs (they are on loan) Flamingo American Bald Eagle Painted Turtle Grizzly Bear cooling off Polar Bear Small Deer
August 6, 200816 yr It's funny how zoo pictures fom any where in the world look pretty much the same Do you know what the last little guys are? I was thinking maybe capybara but hard to see at that angle
August 6, 200816 yr Author I believe you are right that is what the last picture is right or the deer one?
August 7, 200816 yr Yeah the last photo. But I must say if they are Capybara they are a little on the tubby side! Must be spoilt:D
August 7, 200816 yr I love the zoo every holidays I go to Australia Zoo and do a volunteer programme I get to work with all different animals but the Rainforest avairy has to be the best department to work in.
August 7, 200816 yr Given that I think the current belief is that dingoes originally came to Australia with Indonesion fishers that's probably not surprising Sunnie. Goes to show that even over tens of thousands of years of evolution if a template works it won't change much if at all.
August 7, 200816 yr These are hyraxes. They are not rodents and are closer in relation to the elephant. Look at his little elephant feet! hehehehe Edited August 7, 200816 yr by Sailorwolf
August 7, 200816 yr Author Thank you SW I wasn't sure what they were. I thought the same thing Sunnie but they sing when they do their howling thing instead of howling unlike regular dogs, but when they look up at you they have more of the Shib Inu face then the Dingo face.
August 8, 200816 yr There 'flash' dingoes!!! Look like dingoes to me; more cold climate dingoes but- not warm climate dingoes.
August 12, 200816 yr I must have some how missed this topic. They are great photos, I never manage to get good photos when we go to the zoo, they have everything behind glass at our zoo here and it's hard to get good photos.
