Scaly Face:

Cause by little mites: They affect the areas of birds where feathers do not grow. Early stages they start to form around the beak and on top of the cere

 

Best treatment is Ivomec 1 drop on back of neck once a week for 3 -4 weeks or until all has cleared up – Alternatively you can use olive oil with a cotton bud, making sure to stay clear from the nostrils – While your at it give the feet a once over too

 

Scaly face can lay dormant in birds and not be shown until they are stressed!

Scaley face is caused by the mite Cnemidocoptes pilae. It burrows in the tissues of the legs, eyelids, beak and cere of budgies and sometimes other cage birds. It can cause the beak to overgrow.

Best treatments are described as above.

There is a pour on,that you use with a drop on the back of the neck & a oral liquid that is used at a rate of 10mils to a

1 ltre of water,The pour on is a better use,because you know the bird has been treated,
