August 3, 200816 yr I have a babybudgie that i am trying to train up and it bites me hard. How do i stop it from biting? Do i just keep playing with it and doing the tunnel thing? usually its the hens that bite the hardest but that aside i found that if it is really persistant in biting have a small piece of twig in your hand for it to bite on after awhile they settle and know your not going to hurt them Or you could always wear WELDERS gloves lol  Hows my hen doing Missylu? and dont forget the pics of any others :ygbudgie:
August 3, 200816 yr My trick is that when I put my finger into the cage and they would bite it, I would let them bite away and not move. After all, it's just a tiny pinch, it's easy to cope with and they never draw blood. After a short while they gave up biting me since they realized it was useless. I figured that if I removed my finger after a bite they would understand that it's a good way to get rid of me.

Hi Michelle you havent handled a mad hen then if you have not had blood drawn talk about hurt lol Hehe... And you've never had to deal with my cocks when they are pissed. Their beaks are beyond sharp, but they never seem to be able to break my skin. Somehow my hen never bites me. She bites others though. I had to deal with a mad cockatiel hen before though... Oh hum. My finger was bleeding but I didn't budge.
August 3, 200816 yr Hi Michelle you havent handled a mad hen then if you have not had blood drawn talk about hurt lol Agreed... OUCH!!! I've had a few few like that and boy do they hurt... as does the bite for a long time! BUT... a budgie bite will never hurt as much again after being bitten by my male cockatiel who didn't want to held. He nearly took the end off my finger!!! Back on Topic (sorry). If it is still a baby, I'd keep doing what you are doing and see how you go. S/he might grow out of it. You can only try. Out of my five bubs, one was a massive biter, so it made my decision on who to put into the aviary with my flock very easy (Bless my little Gypsy)
August 3, 200816 yr Skywalker does that too, Is this the spangle you are taming? I lightly blow in their face and say NO! to them , It is working with Skywalker ... Also Some babies, aren't actually BITING BITING it is beaking - like teething .... Edited August 3, 200816 yr by Neat
